A digital experience as welcoming as the destination✨

We recently worked with The Wychwood Inn, a traditional yet premium hotel, restaurant, and pub nestled in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Shipton-under-Wychwood, to completely redesign and optimise their website.

Our goal was to create a refined online experience that reflects the exceptional hospitality visitors experience in person.

We created an aesthetic, atmospheric frontend experience to help the client get found, and an intelligent, sturdy backend that gives them total content autonomy.

From improved visibility to seamless booking journeys, every element was designed with visitors and team members in mind.

This was a fantastic project to be part of, and a great example of how thoughtful web design streamlines both user experience and business operations.

Life happens, and unfortunately, I'll no longer be able to attend Atomicon in person this year 😔

I will, however, be attending virtually and getting involved in all the online fun!

How do you manage your time? 🕰️

Building a business is so much fun, and terrifying at the same time.

I’m so proud of the Kaydee Web team and how they just get on with it, always curious, proactive and learning 🤓

My role has evolved into leadership, project management and sales. It’s taken time to step into it with confidence, but now I’m really enjoying it.

I’ve spent years in the background training to speak and putting myself out there. Now I have more regular client catch-ups, research, analysis and reviews for clients, plus podcasts, expos, networking and sales meetings. You could say, I’m kinda busy.

For the team, we have regular stand-ups, check-ins and reviews. Time is our most precious commodity.

We use ClickUp to manage projects. Personally, I use paper and pen to plan my days, reviewing weekly and monthly to align with my Google Calendar. Old school, but it works 🗒️

Is your website working for you or against you?

An audit is how you figure out what needs improving.

We start with tech cleanup, such as refining long, complicated, or untargeted URLs, and restructure your site to be more effective.

Next, we focus on building content around relevant keywords and phrases that will actually lead your audience to you.

We encourage you to establish trust by adding "About" and “Team” pages to put faces to names and build a real connection with your potential clients.

Whether you want to learn as you go, need some support, or would rather have it all done for you, getting the knowledge only you have out of your head and onto the page is the ultimate goal.

Today is my birthday (23rd of April, in case you see this later), therefore I shall not be working! Treat yourself well, too, eh?

So I thought I would leave you with a list of random facts about me.

💍 My married name is actually Kelly Roberts.

🎭 My birthday is shared with Shakespeare.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 It is also St George's Day on the 23rd of April.

♉ I'm a Ta**us, which is fitting, as I am not unlike a bull. Lol.

📏 I am 1 metre 82 centimetres tall (nearly 6 feet). I take up a lot of space.

🔔 My nicknames are Hightower, KellsBells, and KRob.

💇‍♀️ I used to call myself Spike at school because I had a mullet (I love that mullets are back).

🏊‍♀️ When I was growing up, I swam a lot, and I still become a total child in the water.

🧒 I was a real tomboy when I was young.

🥊 In my 20s, I was a kickboxing instructor and a firefighter (alongside web design).

🏂 I moved to France 13 years ago, because I love snowboarding in the Alps.

🌱 I might be a bit obsessed with propagating and growing geraniums.

🚇 Slow travel is one of my favourite things. I love getting to know new places and people, and I embrace this in my networking and speaking.

It's a me, Mario!

Have you seen the Super Mario Galaxy Movie yet? Perhaps over half term with the kids as a convenient excuse. No judgement.

Its release has provided a wave of nostalgia at Kaydee Web.

I was about 20 when the Nintendo Game Boy became really popular - and just starting my business.

I never had my own; I just went to my sister's (.drewett.creative), who had a Nintendo. We spent a lot of time playing it and loved Mario Kart. Geeks through and through 🤓

Every influencer and their dog 🐕 seems to be using this mic at the moment, but I don’t tend to follow trends without good reason.

After receiving feedback (no pun intended) about my echoy audio quality and the need for more flexibility to record from a distance and outdoors, it was time for an upgrade.

I’d been using a wired lapel mic, but phones don’t have jacks anymore, so we continue to move with the technological times.

Reviews for the DJI Mic are great. Here’s my honest take🎙️

Building your own website is truly a labour of love; we get that.

But there are a couple of things to watch out for.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is uploading massive images straight from their phone or camera 📸

Those files are HUGE and can really slow down your website. Always resize and compress them before uploading.

Try not to go overboard with flashy effects.

WordPress, Squarespace, and others give you loads of options: animations, movement, and big visuals. While a few personal touches are great, too many will slow everything down.

Big images + constant motion = slow websites 🐌

Speed matters.

Imagine you’re trying to load a website…and it just won’t load 😩

You’d probably give up and move on, right?

Search engines think the same way. If your website is slow, it won’t rank as well.

Keep it simple, keep it clean, keep it fast 🚀
