What a crazy busy month August was!! Spent all of it in Devon which was nice to be in one place but still managed to fill every minute of every day 😅

1. Kicked things off with a press trip to Circus Brazil in Paignton, creating content for Visit South Devon. Definitely not a bad day at work!

2. Sooooo much content planning. Without a doubt one of my favourite parts of the job (yes, I genuinely love a colour coded content calendar).

3. An induction day out and about with the newest member of the Visit South Devon team, Josie including an AMAZING lunch at the Cary Arms & Spa, Babbacombe, Devon… that view 😍

4. More Zoom calls than I could possibly count.

5. A couple of meetings at the gorgeous Buckfast Abbey. If you're ever looking for somewhere a little different for a meeting, breakfast in the café gets a big thumbs up from me!!

6. Somehow managed to squeeze in a bit of socialising amongst it all.

7. Enjoyed some VERY lovely Devon weather. Working around Torbay definitely has its perks when this is what's outside your door.

8. Fuelled the longer days with a lottttt of coffee. Decaf, always, before anyone worries about the quantity 😂

9. And tried to balance the busy days with some peaceful morning runs around the bay.

August was BUSY, but full of lovely clients, exciting conversations, lots of content and some very exciting things bubbling away behind the scenes 👀

A month of content days, client work and squeezing productivity into every corner of the calendar.

There were celebrations for 10 years of Discover Dartmouth, a few pub garden visits to make the most of the sunshine, and plenty of days spent out and about creating content rather than sitting behind a desk.

September is one of those months that sneaks up on you - and before you know it, you've missed half the content opportunities it had to offer.

Secondhand September, National Fitness Day, the Great British Beach Clean, World Tourism Day, the Autumn Equinox - there's a lot to work with if you know where to look.

I've pulled together ideas for every key date this month, across six industries: hospitality, retail, travel and tourism, construction, estate agency, and B2B.

A heads up: some of this month's dates - International Day of Charity, International Day of Peace, the Beach Clean - deserve a genuine approach. I've flagged where to tread carefully and why.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but... ‘let's go viral’ is not a strategy.

Consistency, clarity, and an audience who actually trusts you will always outlast a lucky moment, and it's the only thing you can actually plan for.

A little shameless self-promotion...

I've got a few spaces opening up for one or two new retainer clients from September.

Travel and tourism is where I've spent most of my career, so if you run an attraction, holiday park, accommodation, activity provider or anything else in the visitor economy, I'd love to have a chat.

Most of the work I do is ongoing rather than one-off projects. That might be managing social media, writing website copy, creating content, updating websites, planning campaigns or generally becoming an extra pair of marketing hands each month.

I keep the number of retainer clients fairly small because I like getting stuck into the businesses I work with, rather than juggling loads of accounts at once.

June was... a lot (but in the best way!)😅⚽

First in Barcelona, then back to Devon and somehow also a full plate of work plans running alongside it all. This month was incredibly busy and I loved every bit of it.

Highlights: friends visiting us in Barcelona, a boogie at Primavera Sounds seeing Carl Cox, and spending a lot of time in bars watching the World Cup l (no regrets, I'm a football fan through and through ⚽).

Big life month, big work month - somehow both at once! These were the highlights ➡️
