It is okay to be different π©·
At the weekend, I was at a beautiful castle retreat... & whilst I learnt a lot about business, one of the biggest takeaways was something about myself.
I realised more than ever that my brain works a little differently. What that exactly means, or what label comes with it, I'm not sure yet.
But the reality is, I was being incredibly mean to myself when I left the castle (no one made me feel this way, everyone was lovely!!)
Wishing I could operate like everyone else.
Wondering why I can't walk into a room full of people and speak effortlessly like some people seem to.
Getting frustrated that I can't always share my knowledge in the ways I'd like to, even though I know I would be able to help more people if I could.
When I left, I cried all the way to my partner's house π
but he and one of my best friends reminded me of something.
Everything that makes me different is also what makes me... me. And those things are beautiful π©·
No, I might not be the best in social situations, I find them incredibly challenging. It's more than shyness, muchhhh more. That's a story for another day.
But I also have strengths I wouldn't change for the world.
My empathy, the way I notice the smallest details, the way I genuinely care about listening to people, the way I want people to feel heard, understood and safe, and the way I pour everything I have into helping others.
Those parts of me matter too.
And I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something π
The more I learn about myself, the more I can understand what helps me, what works for me, and how to build a life that feels aligned with who I really am.
And maybe one day, I'll be able to help other people do the same ππ©·
I might share more of this journey as I continue to learn and uncover things. But for now, my message to you is that it is okay to be different.
You do not need to pretend to be somebody you aren't.
You do not need to force yourself into moulds that were never made for you.
Lean into being you.
Get curious about who you are.
Embrace the things that make you different.
You don't need to hide.
You are more than enough exactly as you are π©·
