Most UK businesses measure social media success by the wrong metric. They count posts. They count consistency. They count weeks in a row without missing a day. What they rarely count is whether anyone actually contacted them because of it.
I've been running social for three months and the pattern is clear. A business shows up consistently, builds routine, posts regularly. Then they ask me the only question that matters: did this actually bring work through the door. Often the answer is no. The posts were fine. The consistency was there. The algorithm wasn't the problem.
The problem was that showing up wasn't enough. Being visible wasn't enough. What matters is whether the people who see your posts are the people who can actually hire you. Whether the visibility converts to inquiries. Whether the time spent produces actual revenue.
That's what I'm optimising for now. Not post count. Not engagement metrics. Whether your social media is actually making your phone ring.
If you're spending hours on this and not seeing work come from it, something fundamental is wrong. It's worth checking. We've written about this in depth at https://byquill.co.uk/blog/small-business-social-media-management.
If you want someone to run it properly so you can stop wasting time, I handle it. Starter at £149 a month. Growth at £249. Pro at £399. Book a call and we'll work out what actually needs to happen.
