Marna Lunt is an oil painter based in Saltburn, a small town on the North East coast of England. Marna trained at the Manchester School of Art in the late 90s, where she started her experiments into expressionism. She grew up amid the unyielding elements of the North Yorkshire moors, which created an essential safe-haven in her world as an autistic. Isolation and solitude is an important theme run

ning throughout her landscape work. After working as a textile artist for many years she has recently returned to paint & has begun exhibiting in the North once again. All work is © marna lunt 2024 all rights reserved.

I’ve spent the last year making quite a lot of work, trying to work out, how to make work in new spaces with a full mind. Then not telling anyone I had made new work because I couldn’t think of what to say, and I didn’t really want to say anything. I got in my own head, I became more trapped in the cycle of thinking I had to say something profound so I didn’t bother. Now I have all these paintings that I never told anyone about. My studio is full, my head is full and I really just want to clear the decks and start again.

So I’ve put all the work I’ve had in the studio and hanging around my house on my actual website! I thought I might actually try sell it as that is sort of the point in the first place! So I’ve discounted it all because I am impatient and want my space back. It would be cool if you fancied a look at it. You could even buy some if you want, you can even pay in instalments.
Bare in mind that when new work comes it will have a new price tag, because after recently doing proper calculations and maths and awkward stuff like that I have realised I’ve been underpricing my work and not covering my costs. Which along with the not actually telling people about my work might make me the most pants saleswoman on earth.

So if you want some high quality very affordable art then head over to www.marnaluntartist.com
Thanks awfully, cheerio.

Here’s a close-up of my painting currently on display at the Open 26 exhibition in Scarborough . I’m thrilled to be sharing the space with the amazing - our works complement each other perfectly. Unfortunately, I got a bit overwhelmed and didn’t capture the surrounding exhibits, but it was wonderful connecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones, and a great way to break my winter hibernation.

Had an amazing weekend at ! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat. Bittersweet though as I'm leaving my studio at at the end of the month. I'm looking forward to spending more time at home and working from my own studio. Family commitments are making it tougher for me to be away from home, but I'm excited to see what the future holds. This month will be all about getting settled back in and maybe even starting some one-on-one teaching. Watch this space!

I'm really going to miss working with my fellow studio mates, but I'm also looking forward to having more flexibility and freedom to work from home. It's been an incredible year and a half at Creation, but it's time for a new chapter.

I'm thinking about doing some one-on-one teaching from my home studio, focusing on helping people find their creative voice and experiment with colour and layering. Let me know if you're interested!

It's going to be an adventure getting everything settled back home but I'm so excited to see where this new path takes me.

Today was lovely and busy at the studio for . I'm pretty sure I left my voice there. Thanks for visiting and for supporting us little independent artists. It’s hugely appreciated.

Next year, I'm putting my artistic endeavors on the backburner to help my daughter navigate the treacherous waters of her GCSEs so wont be opening my studio up. Tomorrow is the last day to catch me in person.
You can find me at tomorrow (Sunday) from 11-4pm, where I'll be attempting to lure you in with a biscuit.

P.s. Don't forget to snag one of my calendars before they're all gone. I've only got a limited supply left on my website, and then they're gone until next year. Oh, and my Christmas cards are selling like hotcakes too. x
