Maureen really wows in her warm spring colours ☀️

Springs always need lightness, brightness and warmth but to different degrees for the different subtypes. Warm springs generally look their best when dialling down the lightness and brightness a little and dialling the warmth right up. The colours are very similar to vibrant autumn colours, but warm springs do need more lightness and brightness than autumns to look their very best.

Sandra and Kelly share the summer palette but their best colours are quite different. Sandra looks great in so many colours that we were draping for quite a while, but the brighter and clearer colours within summer are incredible on her. Summer is known for being a soft and muted season but not every colour in the palette has these qualities, at least not until you compare them directly to spring and winter. It’s all relative! Kelly however looks beautiful in the softer, blended colours at the other end of this watercolour palette.

Mother and daughter Marie and Jade discovered that they both suit bright, vibrant colours. Marie looks radiant in light colours, especially when they are clear and warm. Jade looks fab in really strong, bold colours and especially those that are cooler toned.

It’s worth mentioning here that many bright winters don’t look like obvious winters (although some do). Their natural contrast may be lower and their hair may be a lighter shade of brown. They also may not suit the darkest colours in the palette as well as a typical winter. These are the winters who often dye their hair blonde as they can see the positive effect brightness has on them but they can look fantastic in their natural brown, with their clothing and makeup colours doing the heavy lifting for them instead.

Three generations of the same family 🥰 and they all share a cool undertone. Ren and Gill both look lovely in the soft and delicate colours of summer while Ele wows in the clear and intense colours of winter 💙

Jake, Adam and Maizie came along to see what their best colours are together. Jake looks great in deep colours, and the deep winter colours in particular work perfectly for him. Maizie looks beautiful in her light and fresh spring colours. Adam also looks fab in his spring colours, but there is a touch of autumn influence there so his colours look best when they’re extra golden, making him a warm spring 🌞

When Katy arrived I guessed that she would be an autumn or a summer, and it turned out to be the autumn colours that look phenomenal on her 🍁

Mother and daughter Helen and Freya both wow in bright colours. For Freya it’s the warm brights of spring while for Helen it’s the intense cool colours of winter that are really striking ☀️❄️
