Danielle Beuker Marketing

Danielle Beuker Marketing I am a digital marketing nerd, and a creative storyteller at heart.

I love working with content, social media, and analytics, and am passionate about helping others achieve their goals.

It seems to me that both personal connections and the people I follow on social media are all getting new jobs or otherwise succeeding in their careers on a whole new level.

It's tempting to throw myself into the comparison game, but I'm going to take my own advice.

Here are three things I'm going to do instead:

🥳 Celebrate these people and their achievements. After all, just because they got success doesn't mean I won't. There's enough work out there for us all. And, even more importantly, I'm super proud of them; I honestly believe they deserve the world!
🥸 Remind myself of how hard they've worked to get here, and that they also had to make sacrifices along the way. Their lives aren't perfect either, and chances are, they are comparing themselves to others as well. No one is safe from the dreaded imposter syndrome.
🤩 And finally, fuel their successes into my inspiration and motivation. If they can reach their goals, why can't I get what I want to achieve?

Do you have any other tips for when career comparison steals your joy?

Time to hold myself accountable.

We're almost halfway through the year, and I need to reach a few goals if I want to keep my small business/freelance career running.

In order to hold myself accountable, here are 3 tasks I need to complete ASAP:

✔️ Get an accountant
✔️ Reach out to more businesses
✔️ Update my website to match prices + improve SEO

What are the 3 most important tasks on your to-do list at the moment? Let's hold each other accountable.

It's been a while since I've done this, so here's a little re-introduction:

I'm Danielle Beuker, and I run Danielle Beuker Marketing Ltd (which is currently open to new clients!).

Within my business, I focus on digital marketing, mainly:
✔️ Social media strategy
✔️ Social media management
✔️ Copywriting (from a human being, not AI) for blog posts, eBooks, and website copy to improve SEO

I have worked in digital marketing for a few years now, starting when I worked in an in-house SaaS company's marketing team whilst completing my Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing. After my first degree, I also completed a Master's in Digital Marketing and Analytics at the University of Wi******er.

Finally, some fun facts about me are:

🤯 As a teenager, I thought I wanted to be an English teacher when I grew up
🤯 I've lived in 3 different countries and speak 2 languages fluently (English and Dutch) whilst also knowing the basics of 2 more languages (Mandarin Chinese and German)
🤯 I love travelling and I love theme parks in particular, my favourite theme park being Efteling in The Netherlands.

If you've read this far, please introduce yourself in the comments. I'd love to hear from you!

Doomscrolling.

We all do it, but what do we get out of it?

Inspiration for marketing? Or a feeling of tension and overstimulation?

I'm going to be more mindful about the content I consume this week. Will you join me in this endeavour?

You've got a huge project or assignment to work on but scrolling on LinkedIn, or any other social media network, seems more enticing. You're procrastinating.

I get it. Deadlines get overwhelming.

But there are ways to get work done with enough time left to edit before the final deadline.

Trust me. I went from getting everything done at the last minute in school, to handing my assignments in at least a day before the deadline at uni. In fact, work would be done about a week before, giving me time to ensure there weren't any referencing mistakes or silly typos.

So how did I do it?

I broke. It. Down.

My to-do list looked like:
✔️ Research xyz (several of these, separating each topic and sometimes even listing each paper I wanted to read individually)
✔️ Plan introduction
✔️ Plan first point (and second, and third - however many depending on the word count of my assignment)
✔️ Plan conclusion
✔️ Write the introduction
✔️ Write paragraph 1 (and 2, and 3, once again depending on the word count)
✔️ Write the conclusion
✔️ Read through and take any editing notes
✔️ Edit the paper
✔️ Read through again after edits
✔️ Edit paper again
✔️ Rinse and repeat these last two points
✔️ Put together the bibliography/reference list

Once I had created this to-do list, I would give myself permission to just complete one step on there at a time, before taking a break. Ticking it off would motivate me to continue to tick more off and then, before I knew it, I would enter a 'flow' state.

Whilst I'm not at university anymore, I still apply this method to my work.

Now, I AM aware everyone works differently, so this might not be as effective for you. But if you DO try it, please let me know if you like this method.

Hello to all the business owners and marketers out there! It's time to talk your favourite business books.

I'm going to be real: I want to read more business-related books, but honestly, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the choice.

Thus, I'm coming to my LinkedIn community:
What are your favourite business books for freelancers, business owners and/or marketers? Which books should I avoid at all cost? Which do you consider 'must-reads', and more importantly, why?

Bonus points if the ones you recommend are available on Kindle, as I prefer reading and taking notes that way.

My best tip to heal from burnout, or, even better, avoid it completely...

Burnout is a monster. It creeps up on you, and before you know it, it consumes every fibre of your being.

It is avoidable, but if you're already there, don't fear. You *can* heal.

So how do you do this? Start feeling better, or avoid the monster at all?

Start by thinking back of your childhood years.

Hear me out: this will help. What did you do as a kid that brought you the most joy?

Was it drawing? Singing karaoke on YouTube? Maybe it was assembling Lego?

Now, book in five minutes this week to enjoy this hobby once again (or longer, if you have the time!)

Don't worry about looking silly, or not doing anything perfectly. Just fill. Your. Cup. I promise you, your brain will thank you for it.

What will you do this week to fill your cup?

Pictured are a few of my hobbies, including singing, the Sims, painting, drawing and dancing.
