Loving seeing this story getting some more coverage in the press!
In case you missed it, Bee Mission has been working with the brilliant Winton & Glenmoor Acadmies in Bournemouth on the official launch of a new partnership project designed to benefit pupils, the local community, and the environment.
The project - called Let it Grow - has seen Bee Mission beehives installed on the school roof as well as a Wellbeing Garden designed by Boscombe's Grounded Community and a productive Community Garden installed by the school. Together, these initiatives weave sustainable beekeeping, therapeutic gardening, and community outreach to support the local environment and enhance students’ education and wellbeing.
Amy Foster from Bee Mission says, "The bees are settling in really well; there’s just one hive but about 25,000 bees at the moment and that number’s growing every day.
We’re super excited about doing hive demonstrations with the pupils, we’ve got plans to bring in the honey spinner, and we’ll be serving the honey produced by the hive in the school cafeteria too.
"It’s a great way to educate the kids on the importance of bees and why we should be looking after them"🐝💚🐝
Glenmoor and Winton Academies have also announced their upcoming Eco Summer Festival on Friday 26 June and inviting the public in to see the fruits of the Let It Grow project 🫶
With the warmer weather and more people in their gardens at the moment, the team behind the Community Garden team has also put out a call to local residents to donate any unused or unwanted plant pots this Spring, rather than throw them away, so if you have any spare plant pots, you know where to take them!
