Here’s what nobody tells you about content shoots.
The camera isn’t the hard part. You are.
Not in a mean way. In a completely understandable, totally human way.
Because the second someone points a lens at you, something shifts.
You stand differently. You talk differently. You become a slightly stiffer, slightly more awkward version of yourself who has apparently forgotten how to use their hands 😂
I’ve walked into businesses where the owner - someone who talks passionately about their work ALL DAY LONG - suddenly can’t string a sentence together because there’s a camera in the room.
That’s not a you problem. That’s a process problem.
So I changed mine.
I don’t show up and shoot. I show up, have a proper conversation, ask the questions that actually matter, and learn your world before I capture a single second of it. I want to know what you’re proud of. What your customers say when they finally get it. What that one job was that reminded you why you do this.
And while you’re telling me all of that?
You’ve completely forgotten I’m there.
Ten minutes in and you’re just… yourself.
Talking about something you care about, in the place you know best, doing the thing you’re actually good at.
THAT is the content people stop scrolling for.
Not the polished. Not the perfect. The real.
And if your current content still looks like everyone told you to “just act natural” and then stared at you in silence - you deserve better than that.
