Happy Bookshop Day! Whenever I go into a bookshop I ferl calm and a little excited! Each independent shop displays its own favourites from what is new and of course the shelves are a treasure trove.
I went to Rossiter Books in Ross on Wye earlier this week and enjoyed the hazardous journey to the front door as the road was being dug up. It enhanced the feeling of spaciousness inside!

is my new local bookshop and doing a wonderful job supporting festivals and holding author talks . It is the Year of Reading and according to latest research the average adult in the UK reads 3 books a year.
There seems to be a massive growth in independent bookshops so maybe the conversations with knowledgeable booksellers in bookshops will make those figures higher!

This time last week we had just opened tbe doors for the Mabon Tree event! It was a fantastic day enjoyed by performers and audience! Little children plucked up the courage to dance or make something and all ages were entertained.

In the evening we sang along at the Full Moon Ball with the Queen of Light and Queen of Dark and danced to the Ratels.

We made costumes from all kinds of materials - headgear from waste paper baskets and lampshades, cloaks from billiard table cloth - and we are keeping them safe. And they looked fantastic!

Who knows - we may need them again...

Going out with placards during Stroud Saturday Market meant we got lots of attention!

People were attracted and intrigued by the beautiful designs.

The Mabon Tree is a daytime event in Stroud on Saturday 26th September the day of the equinox. It is held in Lansdown Hall where a large tree will magically appear for one day only!

Expect magical creatures played by improv performers including The Queen of Light and the Queen of Dark and their entourage of foxes and deer!

Solve quests and ask questions of tree spirits or make a memento - there are activities for adults and children.

Buy tasty snacks at the Arbor Eat 'Um cafe!

Plus lots more fun and mischief.

Entry is free for all but donations are welcome and all proceeds go to support Lansdown Hall's fundraising for improved eco stage lighting.

We look forward to seeing you there.

In the evening come to the Full Moon Costume Ball. You will hear the Red Roof Jazz Trio, à covers band and a DJ so you can dance the night away.

Tickets are £ 25 per adult, and you will be given a curry meal and soft drink with a full bar also available. Tickets available from Lansdown website

As it is the night of the Full Moon we encourage you to bring a sparkle of moon magic to whatever you are wearing!

If you would like some inspiration come to Emergence Restock in Kendrick Street Stroud next Friday 18th from 5 - 7 pm

You could buy or adapt a dress or garment and get help to rustle up a silver embellishment - all to give you a fabulous Full Moon Costume statement! This event is free as it is leading to Sustainable Fashion Week.

The Mabon Tree will appear in Lansdown Hall Stroud for one day only! Celebrating the equinox - the change of seasons from Summer to Winter. All are welcome to join in with the enchantment!

It is a multi arts event with local improv performers as characters.

The Queen of Ligbt will hand her crown to the Queen of Dark accompanied by deer and foxes ..all can experience the magic.

You can follow a quest, make a memento enjoy the fun and mischief!

Or have a welcoming brew or soft drink at the "Arbor Eat'Um" cafe!

Entry is free but donations to Lansdown Hall for upgraded eco stage lighting would be welcome.

The fields are golden now. I always love the contrast between the colour of the fields and the dark green of vegetation and trees. And the difference between a photo and an impression in paint.

I have loved watching the development of these three peonies! Last year there was only one flower so three feels a big result. I am telling myself that talking to them and encouraging them along has made all the difference!

Of course they dont last long but the journey has been just as enjoyable as the final destination / result.
