Our What’s On in Twickenham team recently visited the open day of The Fixery at Grove Gardens Chapel in Richmond and discovered a fantastic community initiative bringing repair, reuse and sustainability to the heart of the borough.

From a lively repair café and local organisations like Scrapstore and the Richmond Furniture Scheme, to tea, cake and plenty of friendly conversation, the event showed how Richmond is leading the way in community-driven sustainability.

The Fixery is now open every Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm, inviting residents to bring along small household items, clothing and electricals to be repaired rather than thrown away.

Magnolia season has arrived in Richmond 🌸

For a few short weeks each spring, these stunning trees burst into bloom before disappearing almost as quickly as they arrived. It is one of the most beautiful signs that spring is finally here.

You can spot them in places like Isabella Plantation, Bushy Park and Kew Gardens, but some of the most spectacular magnolia trees are actually hidden in streets and gardens all around the borough.

Did you know magnolias date back nearly 100 million years, making them one of the oldest flowering plants on Earth?

Vision Zone Twickenham – Free Local Event

If you or someone you know is living with sight loss or low vision, this is a fantastic local event worth knowing about.

Vision Zone Twickenham is coming to The Exchange Twickenham and brings together charities, organisations, and technology providers offering advice, support and practical solutions for people with visual impairment.

Visitors will be able to:
• Try the latest low vision aids and assistive technology
• Speak with charities and support organisations
• Discover services and groups available locally
• Get free information and advice

📅 Date: 9 April
⏰ Time: 11am – 2pm (drop in anytime)
📍 Location: The Exchange, Twickenham
