As a small business, are you using your insights (data/stats) to shape your content?

Understanding your data story is no longer optional - it's essential for growth on social. The best content doesn’t happen by accident, it’s informed by strategy.

✅ Start with your top-performing content and ask: Why did this resonate?

Look into:
• Tone of voice – Was it casual, educational, inspirational?
• Content format – Reels, carousels, lives, or static?
• Caption structure – Short hooks or long-form storytelling?
• Posting time/day – Was it during peak activity hours?
• Hashtags – Are they niche, trending, or branded?
• Engagement quality – Were there meaningful comments or just emojis?
• Visual theme – Colours, filters, or aesthetic style
• AI-generated content – Are your audiences reacting differently to AI-created visuals or captions? (If used)

Pro Tip:
Instagram is favouring authenticity, community-building, and micro-conversations. So while vanity metrics still matter, comment sentiment and DM responses are becoming key performance indicators too.

If your goal is to grow engagement, focus on posts that spark discussion and saves. If you're driving traffic or conversions, optimise for link clicks and CTA actions in Stories and captions.

Is your engagement rate actually “good”? The truth is, it depends on your audience size. A 5% engagement rate on 500 followers is not the same as 5% on 500K. According to 2025 benchmark report, engagement rates naturally decline as you grow: from 5.2% at 0 - 1K followers to around 3.5% for larger accounts. That’s not a drop in quality, it’s a shift in scale.

The key is knowing what to focus on at your stage: build consistency early, test content formats as you grow, systematise what works, and eventually scale with batching, repurposing, and support.

So Instead of comparing yourself to massive accounts, use realistic benchmarks and track progress against your own tier.
