To those who may not read our previews post, Xiaohongshu, also known as Little Red Book is an e-commerce platform targeted on luxury skincare and make-up, which has been created as a sharing platform initially. Therefore, anyone can share their experience or recommendation on specific product. Its success comes from its highly-engaged community that user would trust more on other user`s review, instead of the advertisement from the brand. What keeps the commerce side of Xiaohongshu flows constantly alongside with the social side is the app encouraged user to insert product links as hashtag on the photo-- the product it sells in the app, therefore, no external links are permitted. This is such a clever way to keep both user and seller stick to the app. What`s more, there is no sharing or forwarding functions on the app, that is to make sure each 'Note' is originally produced. Users can collect those notes in their own collection folder, which can be set as public or private.

So basically, what does official account look like? It works similar as Facebook that you can post context, photo, video and voice message through the platform. Any relevant information including event invitation, related content about your brand or product can be added. As your number of follower is increasing, you can unlock some different functions. For instance, you will have a ‘comment’ section following each of the post, and this function allows you reply your followers` comments, and followers can read other followers` comments at the same time. Also, the ‘menu’ can be added with more sections including ‘online assistant’, so the follower can communicate directly with you through WeChat.

We`d love to share some fun facts about the Xiaohongshu with you today. It was originally created as a experience-shared forum. Later it started to corporated with brands and further developed a online shopping platform. It has over 0.2 billion users in the worldwide, and it has over 70% of users from 1980s (our generation Y). The context and photo shared by users including oversea shopping, make-up, skincare, sport, travel, hotel, home and restaurant, which is all based on firsthand experience. At the same time, the app had successfully contributed on advertising for a new Chinese makeup brand through big data, KOL and user`s posts. Although there are apps for sharing pictures, travel blog or shopping haul, Xiaohongshu still gained its huge success in recent years.

Last week we have introduced the TAOBAO Maker Festival to you within video, and today we'd like share a picture with you, which is a planning strategy for the coming Double 11 (Nov. 11th) event in TAOBAO.
