A BIG IDEA… FOR THE SMALLEST STUDIO
So we’ve had a LOT of fun working with the lovely Sandra Cumani these last few months, helping her to not just transform her business, but create a completely new one. Her inspiring story is best told in her own words…
“After 27 years of “Photoservice,” and over 10 years of being left alone after my husband passed away, running a photography shop is getting harder and harder these days. Not only for me but for all my colleagues. The pandemic has shifted everyone to online shopping, and small village shops like mine have had to deal with the reality of an increasingly complicated market.
I stopped at a crossroad: continue as usual, hoping that things will improve, or bring a drastic change, a complete renovation, a completely new idea. At my tender age of 57, these choices aren't easy and there have been several sleepless nights! Some will call me crazy, but I am convinced that those who do not risk do not succeed, and this idea has excited me to the point that in two weeks I closed Photoservice and I am ready to reopen with a new identity, and a new kind of service.
Mini Mini Studio wants to bring quality photo portraits to the heart of our community. Only babies and children, a very small studio set, a minimalist but highly professional approach (I don’t lack experience!), and beautiful prints that will stay in your and your children's lives forever. What could be better?”
Bringing Sandra’s tiny studio to life and seeing her first shoots of satisfied customers has been a real privilege. Her story has inspired local businesses, thrilled local children (who can become ‘window portrait star of the month’) and demonstrated how having the smallest studio space in the world doesn’t have to be a disadvantage. We wish her (and her elephants!) all the luck in the world with her new venture, and hope that sharing her story encourages other creatives to look at how weaknesses can be turned into strengths. 🌸😊🐘
