Google quietly switched something on at the end of July that most small businesses still haven't noticed. It's free, it takes about ten minutes, and it involves your Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube accounts. It is also nowhere near as useful as the headlines are suggesting. Lots of people are assuming it does way more than it actually does.

Remember Ask Jeeves? The cartoon butler who let you type a proper question and got a proper answer back? He was quietly retired on Friday. And here's the joke: the way he wanted us to search in 1997 is exactly how most of us now use ChatGPT in 2026.
