Today, I took a booking for a new client for a colour analysis. She told me she's been analysed before, but since her hair and skin have changed owing to the natural ageing process, she wants to make sure she's wearing the most flattering colours for the way she looks now. She also told me she 'needs all the help' she can get. If we'd call in the professionals for any other aspect of our lives, why not for colour and style support to give us confidence and clarity and not wasting our time and money over buying things that we never feel comfortable in?

ÂŁ150 buys you 2 hours of my expertise...because everyone deserves to dress with joy and authenticity.

Your wins are worth celebrating too. đź’š

Running your own business can sometimes mean moving straight from one goal to the next without ever really stopping to acknowledge how far you’ve come.

A new client. A fully booked session. Launching something you’ve been working on for months. Getting through a difficult week. Taking a leap you’ve been putting off. Or simply feeling like things are finally starting to click.

Big or small, those wins matter.

And one of my favourite things about The HEY Wellbeing Collective is having a community of people around you who genuinely want to see you succeed.

There’s room for all of us.

We can recommend each other, share opportunities, celebrate each other’s successes, collaborate rather than compete and remind one another of how well we’re doing when we forget to recognise it ourselves.

Because when one wellbeing business in our region grows, that has the potential to help even more people with their wellbeing — and ultimately, that’s what we’re all here for.

It’s also one of the reasons I love HEY Social so much.

This Thursday, we’ll be bringing the wellbeing community together again for an evening of conversations, connections and plenty of celebrating what everyone has been up to. ✨

Whether you’re already part of the Collective or simply work within or have a passion for the wellbeing space in Hull & East Yorkshire, you’re welcome to come and be part of it.

Community over competition. Always.

This time of year, the shops are often full of clothing in neutrals and olive green. I'm in an outfit of red and lime, with a couple of fun accessories - my faux fur leopard-print bag which has returned for Autumn and my shoes which together create a leopard motif. It's called personal style for a reason, because everyone deserves to dress with joy and authenticity.

Continuing with Oxfam's Second-Hand September, the shoes, bag and jacket were all bought second hand.

Next time you grab your default black tee and jeans, remember that some of us are wearing orange and green.

OK, so this might not be a colour combination that lights your own fashion fires, but knowing which colours suit you and give you joy and an authentic sense of self-expression is what personal styling and colour analysis is all about.

I'm also continuing my daily contribution to Oxfam's Second-Hand September, by including preloved in each outfit - along with not buying new throughout the month. In my free weekly digital transformEd style magazine, you can read more about the Second-Hand September challenges I've set.

Too many clothes in your wardrobe making you feel overwhelmed?
Too many clothes online and in the shops leading to decision fatigue?
Wearing the same few colours and clothes because you lack confidence in what suits you?

What do I actually do as a stylist? It's really quite simple:

I help people of all genders to dress with joy and authenticity, with confidence and clarity. No rules, just client-centred style and colour coaching.

Each 1:1 appointment costs just ÂŁ150. I can help you find the service to suit you or simply book online. No upfront payment needed on booking.

Do people ever get confused about what you do for a living?

I know that I'm a personal stylist, colour analyst, speaker and writer which means I help people dress with joy and authenticity and advocate for planet-friendly ways to dress and for gender-affirming style.

Misconceptions I've had include thinking:
- that I work with celebrities. I don't. Everyone deserves to dress with joy and authenticity and to access professional colour and style support.
- that I judge people on their style and decide if they're getting it wrong. I don't. It's called personal style for a reason and there's no such thing as right or wrong.
- A recent one was when a drag artist at Cottingham Pride told me she'd pop back to my stand for a paint chart as she's decorating her lounge. To be fair, although I advise on colour pairings and harmony with someone's skin tone, I could offer wider advice on colour for home decorating!

What have people thought about what you do?!

September really is the perfect month to come for a colour analysis.

For the appointment, we need natural daylight and there's still enough of that for most people to be able to come after work, although I do take both weekday and weekend appointments including Sundays.

Some of you will be needing or wanting a wardrobe refresh as we start to feel the chills of Autumn. Every time we buy something without understanding what suits us and why we can end up wasting our money and not getting the joy we should get from wearing something with confidence, joy and authenticity.

You may know that in addition to seeing clients in my studio in Willerby, I take bookings for our seaview apartment in Scarborough. This is now on the market, so that location won't be forever.

You can tell I'm a human and not a 'bot because of my very human errors....

I got overexcited about the new month and posted yesterday (31st August) as if it was 1st September....when clearly it's called the AUGUST Bank Holiday for a reason.

I had also accidentally sent transformEd style magazine out on Friday instead of its usual day which is Tuesday.

Follow me for very real, very human content. You'll also find my styling services are also very real, very human, very client-centred, very you.

Happy September!

I've lost track of how many years now I've joined in with Oxfam's . This year is now different. I'm wearing second hand to highlight the impact of fast fashion on the environment.

Today's second-hand boots and second-hand skirt were part of my outfit to go to my wonderful hairdresser's new salon opening. Earlier in the day, I wore second-hand trousers, jacket and flipflops for brunch and a stroll.
