Well it’s been a hot minute! 😅

I am still here just working away behind the scenes.

Currently doing a lot of eCommerce with Styled and Model shoots going in the diary from Feb onwards. It’s been lovely having a sedate January after a crazy busy November and December.

My eldest is had his Nat 5 prelims before Xmas so have cut down my working days from 5 to 4 to support him all I can.

So it’s been a minute since my last grid post 😱! But whilst I have been quiet on here, it’s been an unusually busy start to the year! Lots of you are being super organised this year and booked shoots so you have your imagery for craft fair applications and new product launches ready to go in early 2024!
And so I am busy prepping for my next model shoot in London next Saturday in this gorgeous Clapham studio and I really can’t wait!
Model shoots always involve even more prep than regular shoots as there are more people involved (the lovely model, the hair and makeup artist, a venue etc). But the extra work is always so, so worth it! And next weekend and I will be shooting in the most gorgeous studio in Clapham where we can get a mixture of posed and more candid lifestyle shots.
So why do shots of your products being worn or used by a real-life person make such a difference? Quite simply, they bring your products to life which is super important when selling online! They help your customer imagine how they would look wearing them, or using them in their home. And that can make the all important difference between making the sale…or not…
But without a doubt, booking a bespoke model shoot is a large investment. So I love offering mini model shoot slots throughout the year which gives you a bank of gorgeous imagery at a fraction of the cost of a half or full day model shoot.
I have just one slot left for my next 1 hour mini model shoot for up to 10 items. The shoot is on 10th February and you get 10 inclusive images, the model, hair and makeup and venue included plus return postage of your products via special delivery. Plus I’ll capture at least 1 short video of your pieces being worn or used as a little extra gift for you.

It’s official - we are on the move 🏡🎉🥂!
Yes that’s right, in 2 weeks time we are moving lock, stock and two smoking barrels to my hometown in Glasgow after a whole 23 years away!
The planning (and ex*****on!) of this move has been incredibly complex (and stressful!) with a house sale and house purchase under two different legal systems and securing school places for the boys. But we are almost there! And I AM NEVER MOVING AGAIN 😂!
So I’ll be taking about 3.5 weeks off starting 5th June until the 29th June for the move to give me time to set up my Glasgow studio ready to capture beautiful handmade on a white background, styled lifestyle or on a model.
All outstanding client work will be finished and products returned before we move.
And I am not saying goodbye completely to London - I will be keeping my London studio on for a few more months yet and will be back in London at the end of June and mid July for 10 days for shoots, and then about once a quarter thereafter.
And I will still be contactable and able to do discovery calls, shoot planning and consultation calls for shoots booked from 29th June.
We are all very excited to start our new life closer to both sides of our family (and I cannot wait to start renovating and redecorating our dream home). We are moving to a part of the world I have wanted to live in since I was a little girl. So keep chasing those dreams folks - because one day they can and will come true (even if you have to wait a little while like I have)! xx

New things are coming 🎉…
The lovely break over Christmas gave me a chance to think about some services I am being asked for by Clients more and more.
One regular request is a way to work with me regularly to keep their content topped up. I already offer mini shoot bundles. But I absolutely love working in partnership with brands as part of their virtual ‘marketing team’ where I get to know brands and their visual style intimately and we can really dive into storytelling marketing and truly align your images with your longer-term sales and marketing goals.
So I am thinking something along the lines of 24 hours of shooting time across 12 months (plus associated editing time on top), support with your marketing planning AND the flexibility to use the time as you need it… You could use your shoots for white background images, styled or group shots depending on what you need most (and it can change for each shoot!).
And you have total flexibility about how you use our time together… Maybe you want regular monthly shoots so you have regular fresh content each month. Perhaps you would rather have a smaller number half day shoots or full day shoots throughout the year. Or a mix of these - the choice is yours! And one of the shoots (2 hours) in the second half of 2023 would include a hand model at no extra charge for some gorgeous lifestyle imagery.
Payment plans would be available with discounts for paying quarterly or annually.
I am still ironing out all the details, but if this sounds of interest do drop me a DM to be first on the list to hear more!

Because sometimes you just need a helping hand 👋📸…
Don’t get me wrong - I am a massive fan of online learning (I used to build computer based training in my old job in Financial Services and helped pioneer learning apps on portable devices for staff). I love how you can learn anything from anywhere and I love the convenience of being able to learn at times that suit me.
But sometimes, you just want someone to show you in person how to do something face-to-face and answer your questions in real-time. In a session that is completely tailored to your learning style, the equipment you have or that is accessible for you, based on your current skill level in a subject and focussed on exactly you need to know to improve.
And now I am settling nicely into my larger studio, I will soon be in a position to offer half-day or full-day private tuition sessions again in jewellery and product photography and photo editing/ retouching. It is so empowering to learn how to do sometime well yourself with the equipment you have (even if you still ultimately decide to outsource it).
But rather than take my word for it, the very lovely (and hugely talented), who did a half day private tuition session with me last year has written about her experience as a guest on my blog! Militza will be the first to admit we covered A LOT of ground in our time together (4 Hours), and it has been such a joy to see her gorgeous images in my feed and on her gorgeous new website ever since. Her photography just goes from strength to strength 🙌.

We’re almost there folks 😅!
Anyone else dragging their tired carcass over the line this year 😂!? Like most of my Clients - October, November and December is the busiest time of the year for my business! It’s been an epic one. Hope you are all having a great festive season and selling lots of gorgeous handmade jewellery and products 🎁.
And I hope you have a well earned rest planned once the last parcel is posted! You all totally deserve it for serving your beautiful clients so wonderfully!
I will be heading to Scotland once the boys stop school (which is coming round FAST!) to spend time with both families and those fabulous nieces and nephews of mine.
My last product of the year is shot, the last few parcels are packed up ready to be posted back (in between postal strikes) and I will be finishing up all remaining editing this week. And then I will be putting the camera away for a wee while (my little Olympus Pen will be coming to Scotland with me to grab shots of the boys opening their pressies though. I will still be around, planning 2023, and working on some exciting projects I put firmly on the back burner. But am definitely going to enjoy a slower pace for a month or so.
I am booking for January and beyond and the diary is starting to get busy now so if you are thinking about booking a photoshoot in the new year please do get in touch. There are lots of exciting model, white background and styled shoots coming up!

The power of images for SEO 👊🚀
Did you know your images can help with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) on your website!?
But you need to do a couple of things to ensure your images really help you be found by customers on Google:
📸 Change the file name - use descriptive keywords in your image titles such as Artisan-Bonbon-Chocolate-Box-blue ribbon-Wimbledon. Google can’t yet ‘see’ images (am sure it will someday but we aren’t there yet). So your file titles tell Google what the image is about and help you be found in Google search.
📸 Optimise your file size for web. Big images slow down your website and Google does not like that. Yes - you absolutely need high resolution files for print. But you want your web images to be no more than 200kb in size. But you don’t want them too small so that they are blurry!
📸 Add ALT tags to your images - ALT text describes images to visitors who are unable to see them and Google likes that. So do it. Most web platforms now let you do this when you are uploading your images.
📸 Use the right file types - JPG, PNG or GIFS only! Give other file types a miss for your website.
📸 Include your business name in some of your file titles - that way if people search for your business by name you will show up on the image search.
📸 Separate words in your image titles with dashes (hyphens) and not underscores. Google only recognises hyphens e.g. Artisan-Bonbon-Chocolate-Box-Blue Ribbon-Wimbledon.
SEO can seem overwhelming and such a big task particularly if faced with having to trawl through your website making these changes. But starting to do these things before uploading your images to your website can make a HUGE difference and makes the whole SEO task on everyone’s to do list a lot less daunting!

Sharing some group shot love 🥰!
Whilst there is often a lot of focus on individual product shots or model shots for your website and social media. An often overlooks marketing powerhouse is the Mighty Group Shot 👊!
Group shots can be a really powerful way of showing off different products in your range in a single shot and are so versatile in terms of how they can be used!
Group can be used for:
📸Banner shots for your website or webpages to show multiple products from your range
📸 As product category shots for either a product type like rings, or for individual collections
📸 As a product shot in product listings to show other variations in your range or to upsell items that would work well when paired together
📸 Shop and newsletter banners
Newsletter popups
📸 Launching a new collection
📸 On your fliers and business cards
And lots more!
I love creating beautiful group shots for my lovely Clients. Don’t get me wrong - they are trickier and take more time to setup than regular product shots with a single item. But there is something very satisfying about capturing that perfect group shot 😍.
And as group shots often suffer from depth of field meaning not all the products in the group are in focus (so annoying!),
I will often focus stack these images so you can see each product in the shot clearly.
So next time you are planning a photoshoot - either DIY or with a photographer - don’t forget to include a few juicy group shots to help your marketing. You’ll thank me for it, I promise!

The ring stack of dreams 🤩💗!
What could be more swoon worthy that a glorious stack of personalised fine jewellery diamond rings in rose gold by 😍😍😍?? I just love the secret message in diamond morse code (how cool!).
I may have been quiet on here, but I have been working away behind the scenes at a slower pace capturing gorgeous products and jewellery.
My availability is extremely limited until the beginning of September as I will be taking a short hiatus over the summer to spend with my boys (who at almost 11 and 13 won’t want to socialise with me for much longer)! And so I only have a couple of slots left before my summer break.
For any Scottish followers I am bringing my kit up to Scotland in August for a couple of behind the brand shoots in and around Glasgow if anyone wants some headshots or workshops shots done.
