The power of brand..

You don't have to look very far to really see the enduring power of brand and how, when done expertly, it can add a phenomenal amount to the bottomline and reputation of an organisation.

Outside Tier 1, many in my chosen manufacturing, engineering, construction, health and public sectors still struggle to effectively build their brands.

But look at the example of Ferrari.

They are going to take some beating with their first-ever Ferrari Luce electric car being sold for a record $40m (€34.5m; £29.5m) by Sotheby's during Monterey Car Week in California.

The quintessential petrol heads' glamorous racer brand. Now selling the world's most expensive EV.

In selling the first one for $40m, they've smashed their 2026 sales target and demonstrated what ultra prestige EV looks like.

BBC saying ex Apple designer Johnny Ive is behind it.

It's no good to me, unless it comes with 6 seats 🙄

Would your brand be able to support extension in remotely the same way?

I mean, call it an obsession if you like.

There really is nothing worse than having to justify why a client should do anything.

But it especially bites when it comes to brand, comms and marketing because it's the one area of business that everyone thinks they have an informed view on.

Doesn't happen in IT, HR, Finance, Sales, Ops.

Why is that?

Two-thirds of B2B and professional services businesses see a sales slump in July and August.

If you run one, I want to help you stay visible, get ahead of your competition and finish the year strong.

The "Wait till September" marketing mistake that is about to kill your business.

"Let's wait until September" is one of the most expensive and counter productive sentences in manufacturing.

And especially when it comes to marketing.

Doing nothing for in excess of eight weeks can set a company back many months.

September isn't a fresh start. It's just August with more emails.

Every business that "waits until September" is really just deciding to lose 3 more months of pipeline, 3 more months of invisibility, 3 more months where a competitor's website is doing the job yours could be doing now.

Marketing compounds.

The FAQ article you publish today and share on socials, email, rework as PR and add to your email footer is still working for you in December.

The one you "will write in September" isn't.Same goes for the website clean up. Start with an audit today.

Same goes for your prospect newsletter. Could be in front of hundreds next week.

The new video? Shot and on your site early August.

The website audit you commission today throws up things to fix, things to add that will make a near immediate impact on your ability to market yourself more effectively.

And positioning and origin stories give you something new to share.

Waiting isn't free. It just feels free because the cost is invisible.

What are you putting off until September that you could start this week?

__

Right now, I'm offering five specific summer offers to manufacturing and professional services companies who don't want to lose six months because they opted not to get things done in the summer.

- Website audits
- Positioning
- Origin story
- Email set up and first newsletter
- Video.

All offer quick ways to create value and impact on your audience that will create conversations across July and August.

Not October or November.

Unpopular opinion: Most website projects, especially in industrial and service B2B, actually end in massive fatigue and disappointment for all involved rather than the fanfare that they start with.

You've got an agency or a developer on one side trying to get the job done to spec and to budget.

On the other, you have someone "running the project" who doesn't have the experience to interface between developers and decision makers.

And you've got a senior team clientside who haven't really been involved throughout, but that are now making lots of last minute changes now they have "something "to look at.

Website development by committee is still all too pervasive in 2026. And that's just the companies investing.

For every one website project, there are probably three companies that need theirs sorting out urgently.

_

If you're trying to promote your business inspite of your website, or you've started a project that has stalled, you're leaving so much money on the table.

Get your website working for you.

Website audits and project management are available all summer long.

Take advantage over lazy competition and start now whilst it's quiet and hit September strong.

Get in touch asap.

CHESHIRE / MANCHESTER ONLY

Run your own service business? Internet first impressions have never been more important than they are now.

Google search results pages have always ranked on website content and now AI platforms are doing it too.

If you’re running ads or asking people in Facebook groups to trust you, they’re going to check out your website first.

Give yourself the best chance of the best possible first impression by booking a site audit call (cleverly called PowerUPs) in Wilmslow now. DM for details and booking.

Summer is the best time to fix up tired websites and I’ve got limited availability for local service providers, building and domestic professionals.

Most company owners have a love/hate relationship with marketing.

None of us like to pay for things we don't think we need.

We've tried hiring in and developing our own but they leave.

We've used consultants who sound great in meetings but don't implement.

And we've worked with agencies who love us for a bit but are then seduced by their next shiny new client.

Because things inevitably evolve, the perception of marketing always suffers.

As founders and custodians, we think we know our customers and markets better than anyone.

We think there is high demand for our products and services.

We think have a strong brand and market positioning.

We have great word of mouth.

Until we realise, we really don't.

__

The world is a buyer's market.

And we're living in echo chambers with our own presumptions and assumptions.

Very few companies actually ask customers what is working and what isn't.

Fewer still ask prospects why they chose someone else.

Even fewer meaningfully sample the market at large. Not enough testing of services, products, innovations.

__

That's what bringing a fresh set of marketing strategy eyes does.

No siloed thinking. No presumptions. Whole of market, and wider industry, experience.

It could be a competitor audit. A website review. It might be tightening up positioning and the brand. What it means to rely on you. Unearthing true difference.

It might be reviewing how you generate interest, how you respond or how you manage the process.

It might be looking at how you project across marketing communications.

Any one thing could be giving your ideal prospects "the ick".

But you won't know because you've decided marketing and working with someone like me isn't for you.

What a shame.

Five ways a £149 PowerUp could change your life and business fortunes...

1. I'm likely to pull your website to pieces and explain why it's getting crickets.

2. Establish why your customer isn't part of any of your content and provide proof.

3. Dramatically overhaul your positioning so you attract more of the right people.

4. Evidence why you're not generating actual enquiries.

5. Lay out why your number 1 competitor gets way more business than you.

If you’re in manufacturing or professional services, don’t hire a marketer with a big recruiter commission. And don't spend thousands with an agency with a high overhead.

This could be the best £149 (+ VAT) you've ever spent.

Four slots Weds 17th and four slots Fri 19th June.

Gotta love the people who wrote this copy to entice people into the premium parking at The Trafford Centre.

Sophistication? Luxury? It’s a shopping mall car park.

A few things:

1. It’s on the upper floor and outdoors (it rains a lot in Manchester)

2. The lower floor is free.
