Shout out to my fellow female freelancers this international women's day. I've been so lucky in my freelancing career and worked so many amazing women. Women who support eachother and lift each other when needed most.

Freelancing can be lonely and when you hit that block it hits hard! Really hard! There's no office buddy to bounce ideas off. There's no team to throw you a bone. It's typically you, your computer and an empty brain.

Luckily for me I have the most amazing mentor/friend to vent to, bombard with questions and give me that all important kick up the backside and there's no better kicking than the one coming your way than the one from SEO Lady UK Nina Payne

To me celebrating international women's day is about celebrating your team. Your never let you down girls. No matter who they, if they support you when you need them most, they're worth celebrating.

So today is National Work From Home Day and in celebration I didn't actually work from home!

The last few weeks have been ridiculously crazy for both of us work wise, even our evenings together have been spent working, talking about work or stressing about work, both our own and eachother's.
So today I took the office with me while he took some down time.

Getting out into fresh air and being surrounded by nothing but trees, fields and a lake was exactly what we both needed, even though I had deadlines and emails coming thick and fast it all seemed just that little easier.

So while we're all working from home and struggling to separate the office from kitchen remember the new work/life balance is a positive thing. There's nothing in the rules that says just because we're not in a physical office we have to be tied to our home desks... pick up that laptop, get outdoors or to a coffee shop and regain some control over your working life.

Pic 2 demonstrates what to do in case of rain (and rain it did at times) 😆 bunker down in the car boot and voilà, dry outdoor office space.

Friday. 5pm. Laptop closed. Wine in hand. Bank holiday. (Is reading this doing the same for you as it was in real life for me?)

As a freelancer I'm awful for closing my laptop when I knownI should. It's really not uncommon for me to be working past 7pm on a Friday only to be back at it by 9am Saturday but this weekend I'm saying no!
The laptop's closed, the wine is open and I'm not (I'm really honestly not) working.

Who misses the feel of a real typewriter? 🙋‍♀️

I'm "lucky" enough to remember using a typewriter and there's just something really special about the sound of the keys as they type, I always felt really creative and it's where my love of writing stems from.

Copywriting isn't just putting words down and hoping for the best, it's crafting something to capture an audience and encourage the imagination. It's problem solving, often for potential customers that didn't know there was a problem and it's showcasing the benefits of fixing it.
