Turns out I wasn’t talking too much… I was just developing my communication skills. 😂

All those school reports saying “Louise is a pleasure to have in class, but she does talk a lot” were apparently just early career guidance.

Fast forward a few decades and I’ve somehow made an entire career out of communicating, telling stories, coming up with ideas and helping businesses get people talking about them.

So really, I’d like to formally apologise to absolutely none of my teachers. 😉

Any other “talks too much” girls here who went into marketing?

I’m not going to ask ChatGPT what I looked like in the 80s…

Because I already know. 😂

And apparently it involved questionable haircuts, dungarees, climbing ladders with absolutely no regard for health & safety and some VERY strong outfit choices.

No AI required.
Just actual photographic evidence. 📸

Although I have to say… 80s me walked so 2026 me could run. 😂

And yes, I’m fully aware that sharing these on the internet may be a terrible decision.

“I have been following your accounts for a while and pleased to hear you are back working with marketing.”

This landed in my inbox recently.

And that person is now my newest client. 💗

I love this for more reasons than one.

Because when I decided to move back into broader marketing consultancy, there was inevitably a little bit of “Is this the right move?”

Turns out, people had been watching.

Not necessarily liking every post.
Not commenting on every Reel.
Not sliding into my DMs.

Just quietly following, getting to know how I work and waiting until they needed me.

And THAT is something worth remembering when you think your marketing isn’t working because people aren’t visibly engaging with it.

Your future customers may already be watching.

Keep showing up. Keep demonstrating what you know. Keep building trust.

You never know which follower is going to become your next client.

And I’m very pleased to say this one did. 🥰

Yesterday I met with a new client and it was the perfect example of why marketing needs to be bigger than individual channels.

They’re already investing in marketing.

Print advertising ✔️
TV & radio ✔️
PPC ✔️
Social media ✔️

But each one has been operating independently of the others.

And that’s where I come in.

I’ll be working with them to develop a unified marketing strategy, bringing all of those channels together to create cohesive, integrated campaigns where everything has a purpose and everything supports the bigger picture.

Because good marketing isn’t about doing more.

It’s about making everything you’re already doing work harder together.

This is exactly why I made the move back into broader marketing consultancy — and exactly the kind of work I love doing.

More than social media. Real marketing. Real results.

Things I wish we could stop seeing on social media… respectfully. 😂

Social media has somehow become one enormous echo chamber where everyone is using the same hooks, stealing the same AI prompts, chasing the same viral formulas and telling us how they made £847,392 while they slept.

And I’m tired. 😂

The problem isn’t AI.
It isn’t hooks.
It isn’t wanting more followers or better reach.

It’s the idea that there’s a shortcut to good marketing.

Because if everyone uses the same “8 guaranteed viral hooks”… they stop being good hooks.

If everyone uses the same AI prompts… everything starts looking the same.

And if you gain 100,000 followers who have absolutely no intention of buying from you… congratulations on your very large number, I suppose. 😬

Meanwhile, the boring stuff still works:

Knowing your customer.
Having something worth selling.
Building a recognisable brand.
Creating genuinely good content.
Showing up consistently.
Building trust.
And having an actual marketing strategy behind it all.

Maybe we don’t need another viral hack.

Maybe we just need to make good marketing good again.

Which one would you happily never see again? 👀

A little Friday update from Louise Pinnell Marketing 💗

It’s been a BIG week behind the scenes — new enquiries, new clients, new services, website plans and lots of exciting conversations about what comes next.

It turns out my move back into marketing beyond social media was exactly the right one. And I’m very excited about where this is going.

More than social media. More strategy. More of the marketing I’ve spent 25+ years doing.

Anyway… here’s your Friday update, featuring a rogue quiff that I noticed far too late and absolutely was NOT filming the whole thing again for. 😂

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend!
