Can ChatGPT really do your marketing?

So, you asked ChatGPT to sort your marketing. It gave you a strategy. It sounded good. It has some structure, it was clear what you needed to do and very confident in the action you needed to take.

The problem is…… it sounds like that regardless of whether it's right.

It has no way of knowing if your positioning is off. It can't tell you that your messaging isn't connecting.

It can't see your numbers, your conversions, or the gap between what you think is working and what the data says.

It's not a Strategy. It's a well-written reflection of whatever you put in and, at best, will provide completely generic results.

If you're not getting the results you want, a tool that validates your current thinking isn't going to fix the issue.

Most small businesses are so focused on the sales that they skip the bit that makes selling easier.

Getting in front of people before they're ready to buy. Letting them see what you do. Making sure that when they are ready, you're already the name they think of.

One of my clients has been running a small ad alongside their main ad campaigns. No offer, no discount, no call to action.

Just showing the right people what they do and how they do it.

For less than £2 a day.

And a product that was selling 2 or 3 times a month? It's already sold 7 times this month, and we're not done yet.

So far this month, they've achieved £13k in sales that have been 100% boosted by this.

One ad from one direction is not what brings in all the sales; it's those other bits and pieces that all fit together like a jigsaw that make this happen.

Why are your competitors getting customers and you’re not?

You’re doing the work. You’re posting, you’re in the groups, you’re trying to stay consistent, you’ve probably even started using AI to speed things up.

And still your sales are all over the place.

I quite often get asked this and the answer is easy.

I look at the strategy a business is using and refine it, or rewrite if needed.

Your competitor isn’t the real problem. It’s just the easiest thing to blame.

They might be copying you. They could be cheaper. Hell, they seem to be everywhere.

It's ok, that happens.

But if someone lands on your business and still isn’t sure why they should choose you, that’s a clarity issue.

People don’t sit there doing a full comparison exercise, unless they're buying a house 😉

They go with what makes the most sense, the quickest.

If your message isn’t clear, if the difference isn’t obvious, if it takes a bit of thinking… they’re gone.

Because it wasn’t easy to understand why it was right for them.

That’s when everything starts to feel competitive, for you, not for them. They've moved on!

You start watching what others are doing. Second-guessing your pricing. Changing things that didn’t need changing.

Meanwhile, the real underlying issue is still lurking.

If your positioning is clear, competitors become much less relevant.

People don’t need ten options. They need just one that feels right.

Make that decision easier and instead of trying to speak to everyone, start speaking to the right people!
