PR is just free advertising right? Wrong!
PR can be defined as a planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain good will and mutual understanding between an organisation and its stakeholders - be they customers, employees, shareholders, the general public or other specific target audiences.
Ironically, PR is an often misunderstood and under-valued management tool. To some it's seen as 'free' advertising while to others it's just dealing with journalists and issuing press releases. In fact, PR can play a central role in the achievement of specific organisational objectives by focusing, reinforcing and communicating an effective message.
PR involves many disciplines and can have an impact on every aspect of an organisation. It is about projecting the right message across all appropriate communication touch points, which may include media relations, advertising, sponsorship, exhibitions, local community events, and environmental and public affairs,
Communication is the key to public relations - if you'd like to discuss how to use PR as a management tool get in touch!
