I'm working on two senior production leadership role atm right. The companies couldn't be more different. And yet both come to the same conclusion: the old job description doesn't work anymore.
As some sort of self-soothing therapy, I've written in my blog how I'm tackling the searches - and discussing who should be in the room, where to find the right people, and the one question I always ask before a search begins.
Here's a snippet:
"The production leaders who make a genuine difference do not wait for the org chart to give them permission. They make themselves indispensable so quickly and so specifically that the question of permission becomes irrelevant."
