When Katie first started her business, she needed something simple to get her going.

A lovely parent created her logo in exchange for a tuition session and, like so many small businesses, it did exactly what it needed to do at the time.

Fast forward three years and the business has evolved massively.

Katie now supports children through 1:1 tuition, small group sessions, SEND-informed learning support, dyslexia screening, parent guidance and consultancy.

Our goal was to create a brand that felt:
⭐ Engaging and approachable
⭐ Specialist and professional
⭐ Confident and trustworthy
⭐ Playful without feeling nursery-like
⭐ Empowering for children and families

We kept some of the elements Katie already loved (including her signature lilac and star) and evolved them into a more cohesive identity designed to grow with her business.

One of my favourite things about this project was hearing how passionate Katie is about helping children build confidence and enjoy learning again. That became the heart of the brand.

The brand glow-up Katie was ready for 💜

The new identity combines specialist educational support with engaging, confidence-building learning experiences through a soft pastel palette, playful supporting graphics and professional typography.

If I could give you 3 things for your brand it would be these: consistency, clarity and confidence 💜

I know so many incredible female founders doing incredible things but sometimes they're being held back because their brands are lacking these things. It's why I'm building the Brand Confidence Club to give the space for female founders to work with me and each other to build their brand confidence and make their businesses shine.

I'd love you to join me - follow the link in my bio for the full details and to join the wait list.

Brand consistency isn't just about making things look good; it has real business value.

When your branding is consistent across all your touchpoints, it builds recognition, familiarity and trust. It shows that you take your business seriously, care about how it's presented, and gives people confidence in what you do.

All of this helps create stronger customer loyalty and, ultimately, can have a positive impact on revenue.

But I get it. You've already got a lot on your plate, and getting your head around branding can feel like another job you don't have time for.

That's one of the reasons I'm building the Brand Confidence Club. A space where you'll have regular access to me for feedback and advice, so I can help you create more consistency, use your branding with confidence, and showcase your business in a way that reflects how good it really is.

We're launching on 1st July and I'd love you to be one of our founding members.

If you're interested, join the waitlist via the link in my bio and you'll be the first to hear when the doors open.

This may be a little controversial (but hear me out!) ...

I know one of the big selling points of Canva is it's library of templates BUT I actually think they could be wasting more time than they save.

Templates CAN be a great time saver but only if you have a set that works for you and your brand. Choosing a different template every time you open up Canva is not saving you time, and worse it's adding confusion to your brand.

This is why I've developed my Canva Design Systems service. Branded templates to use in Canva designed specifically for your business - ready to edit and reuse as often as you need.

If you think that some branded templates could help you and your business, do get in touch so we can chat about what could work.

Ok… so now I’m seeing these AI graphics EVERYWHERE 😂

And I couldn’t help myself.

The AI graphic starter pack:

✅ overly perfect lighting
✅ random sparkles and doodles
✅ suspiciously flawless people
✅ vague “inspirational” messaging
✅ 14 different fonts fighting for their lives
✅ and somehow every single business suddenly has the same graphic style

A graphic can look polished, on-trend and on-brand… but still completely lack the personality behind the brand and the person running it.

That’s the bit that makes me a bit sad as a designer. When everyone starts sharing the same AI-generated styles, brands lose the personality and uniqueness that makes them memorable in the first place.

I’m not anti-AI at all. I actually think it’s an amazing tool when used well.

But I do think we need to be careful not to lose all the humanity in our brands in the process.

The quirks, the little errors, the weird and wonderful ideas, and the real personality behind businesses… that’s the GOLD. That’s the stuff that builds trust, recognition and connection.

So this is your reminder not to blend into the endless scroll of identical AI content. The brands people remember are the ones that still feel human (and sometimes messy!).

(Sorry but... Design with heart, not algorithms 😂😂😂😂😂)
