This may be a little controversial (but hear me out!) ...

I know one of the big selling points of Canva is it's library of templates BUT I actually think they could be wasting more time than they save.

Templates CAN be a great time saver but only if you have a set that works for you and your brand. Choosing a different template every time you open up Canva is not saving you time, and worse it's adding confusion to your brand.

This is why I've developed my Canva Design Systems service. Branded templates to use in Canva designed specifically for your business - ready to edit and reuse as often as you need.

If you think that some branded templates could help you and your business, do get in touch so we can chat about what could work.

Ok… so now I’m seeing these AI graphics EVERYWHERE 😂

And I couldn’t help myself.

The AI graphic starter pack:

✅ overly perfect lighting
✅ random sparkles and doodles
✅ suspiciously flawless people
✅ vague “inspirational” messaging
✅ 14 different fonts fighting for their lives
✅ and somehow every single business suddenly has the same graphic style

A graphic can look polished, on-trend and on-brand… but still completely lack the personality behind the brand and the person running it.

That’s the bit that makes me a bit sad as a designer. When everyone starts sharing the same AI-generated styles, brands lose the personality and uniqueness that makes them memorable in the first place.

I’m not anti-AI at all. I actually think it’s an amazing tool when used well.

But I do think we need to be careful not to lose all the humanity in our brands in the process.

The quirks, the little errors, the weird and wonderful ideas, and the real personality behind businesses… that’s the GOLD. That’s the stuff that builds trust, recognition and connection.

So this is your reminder not to blend into the endless scroll of identical AI content. The brands people remember are the ones that still feel human (and sometimes messy!).

(Sorry but... Design with heart, not algorithms 😂😂😂😂😂)

The way people search online is changing.

We’re moving away from simply typing keywords into Google and towards asking AI actual questions. (We’re basically all chatting to the internet now 😅)

Which means your website now needs to do more than just “sound good”.

It needs to answer questions clearly.

And one of the easiest ways to do that?

FAQs.

Not just because they help your audience find information quickly, but because they naturally create the kind of clear, structured content AI tools are looking for.

The good news is Rocketspark makes this really easy.

Their accordion feature doesn’t just look neat and user-friendly — it also helps structure your FAQs properly behind the scenes so search engines and AI tools can understand them more easily too.

So if you’ve been wondering how to make your website more AI-friendly, this is a really good place to start.

Do you currently have FAQs on your website?

The carousel covers how search behaviour is changing, why AI prefers clear and structured content, how FAQs support both AI and website visitors, examples of effective FAQs, where to place FAQs on a website, and how Rocketspark’s accordion feature helps structure FAQ content for AI and search engines. The final slide includes a call to action for website support.

I've found that when I'm working with my clients, more and more often, I'm offering them additional strategic support in developing their brand, improving their website or enhancing their online presence.

It's been almost 18 months since I changed from Gab Design to Groves Creative. In some ways it doesn't feel that long, but in many others it feels like Groves Creative has always been my brand.

Rebranding as a Graphic Designer was SO much harder than you would imagine! There was a lot of overthinking and questioning each step, but in the end it was the best thing I've ever done for me and my business.

Having a brand that I feel truly connected to and reflect my personality has transformed my business. This is mainly because it gave me a fresh confidence in showing up, getting visible and sharing what I can offer.

This is what brand confidence can do and I want every female founder to feel it ✨

Carousels are popular right now and for good reason! They’re a brilliant way to keep people engaged and encourage them to keep swiping.

BUT I’m seeing a few common mistakes that could actually be hurting engagement.

Yes, your carousel might look pretty but if it’s hard to read, overwhelming, or unclear on mobile... people will likely drop off.

If you want your content to be easier to read, easier to follow, and more accessible, here are a few things to think about:
✅ Design for mobile first
✅ Use strong colour contrast
✅ Use large text
✅ Keep slides focused
✅ Don't keep details only in the graphics
✅ Create a clear flow

Accessibility isn't about ticking boxes, it's about making content clearer and more enjoyable for more people, because accessible design = good design.

Let me know in the comments if you've considered accessibility in your carousels? Have any of these points made you stop & think?

Image description: Educational carousel focused on improving accessibility in carousels. The opening slide shares the message that some carousels may look beautiful but can be difficult to read. Each slide then explores a key accessibility tip, including designing for mobile-first viewing, choosing readable font sizes and strong colour contrast, simplifying layouts, keeping one key message per slide, ensuring important information is included in the caption and creating a logical flow from slide to slide. The final slides reinforce that accessible design is good design and leave viewers with three practical questions to ask before posting their next carousel.

Let's play a colour game!

I often see these word matching games in my little boy's activity books so thought it would be fun to create my own all about colours!

Can you match these five colours to their meaning?

No cheating!! Have a go before you scroll on.

Colours are so important when it comes to branding as each colour has a meaning, and will tell your audience something about your brand. If you get this wrong then you could leave people confused and unsure about what it is you offer.

Do you know what your brand colours are saying?

If you're not sure then this is your sign to go & do some research! And if you feel like your colours, and your brand, could do with a refresh then do get in touch as I'd love to help.

Now let me know in the comments how many did you get right???

Image description: A five-slide carousel exploring the psychology of colour in branding. The carousel begins with a colour-matching game, inviting viewers to connect different colours with brand personality traits such as credibility, energy, clarity, courage, and momentum. It then reveals the answers, explains why colour choices matter in branding, and finishes with a photograph of Sam from Groves Creative encouraging business owners to think more intentionally about their brand colours.
