𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲... 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀?

This time last year I began an exciting collaboration with Selborne client Fiona Sinclair, founder of Inspectrum Food Safety.
Fiona’s an accomplished Environmental Health Practitioner whose consultancy supports NHS trusts, hospitals, care homes; protecting not just reputations, but most importantly, patient wellbeing.

What started with an initial meeting with Fiona over coffee at The Wakes cafe has lead to working together to bring to life her vision of ‘The Inspectrum Lexicon’. A 108 page interactive PDF food safety management system tailored to individual hospital, or care groups requirements.

I’m Sarah and I'm also proud to call Selborne my home, for the last five years running my design studio here in the village too. Specialising in design for print I started Crimson Graphics over 20 years ago after the first decade of my career working in marketing and design agencies.

I’m always inspired by the story behind the development of a business, then using my years of design and marketing experience to create branding, packaging or brochures to support their businesses growth.

You'll have noticed 2024's festive retail season has been let out of the Pandora's gift box in your local supermarkets.

Thought I'd share this delightful decoration that's perfect for anyone who's had twins, triplets, quads or even more happy arrivals since last December 25th. 😉

I wonder how many thousands were produced and how many careless little elfs have been put on Santa's naughty list for not proof reading both the design and the website listing?

Golden rule of graphic design... proof read twice, print once! 🎄

– Looking out of my Selborne studio this bright spring morning I thought I'd share the packaging I created in 2022 for Gilbert White's House & Gardens .

It's a delicious fresh gin, with botanicals infused in the blend cut from Gilbert’s herb garden in the museum's grounds. Even the distillery is local, just down the road in Old Alresford. ******er_distillery

– Alton kicks off its spring walking festival on the May bank holiday, the ideal way to explore the beautiful countryside around the town and nearby villages, especially if you’re new to the area.

Alton Town Council first asked me to design their brochure in 2014 to promote the very first Walking Festival, when it was held over one weekend. In last 9 years the festival has grown to a month long event. I'm so pleased to have created the 2023 brochure again, in my Selborne studio, and to be part of helping a great local festival flourish!

Do you love a zesty G and T? It's certainly my end of week treat on a Friday night! Last week I held a draw to win a local refreshing batch which is launching very soon, with packaging designed by myself.

The whole project is the culmination of three South Downs enterprises:
Crimson's client Gilbert White's House & Gardens who commissioned this batch of boutique gin from Wi******er Distillery incorporating botanics hand picked from the historic gardens at The Wakes in Selborne and of course my own company Crimson Graphics who created the packaging and tasting notes from my design studio in Selborne.

Congratulations to Nicola Webster who's won a taste of a South Downs garden in summer to toast 20 years of bespoke creativity by Crimson.

– The candles are lit and burning bright, as this autumn I celebrate 20 years of setting up Crimson Graphics.

Two decades on, after the most challenging 18 months for both Crimson and many of our clients, we continue to grow stronger, creating eye catching design for print.

– Having only become a Selborne villager in 2020 I'm thrilled to be designing for Gilbert Whites House and Gardens this year. What a great team they are to work with, there are lots of exciting new ideas buzzing around their marketing team.

I've just designed this gift voucher, giving the recipient a year's entry to explore the museum and gardens throughout the seasons. Buy them from the gift shop or Whites cafe, what could be a better present for a nature lover?

Or if you're planning a big party or wedding get in touch with their events team, as the 16th century barn set beneath Selborne hangar surrounded by a wild flower meadow, is the perfect venue for a celebration. The other two vouchers I've designed in this project are a wedding gift for happy couples and their guests to make a return visit and explore the house and gardens.
The watercolours on both vouchers are digital, DM me if you'd like a similar creation of your home, or a favourite place with special memories.

More collaborative projects are in the pipeline with the team, one I'm personally very exciting about is due to be launched in the autumn. Watch this space...

I was very lucky to spend the afternoon at Wimbledon yesterday, my first time with the centre court roof closed. At one point it was raining so hard, and the noise so loud, you couldn't hear the ball being hit! 🎾

The whole Wimbledon experience, from finding out about matches on the website, to visiting the All England Lawn Tennis Club on the day, is impressivly branded, right down to the floral displays around the grounds. I know I've mentioned it many times both in my workshops and here on Instagram but it's worth repeating, my mantra for strong branding is simply the three C's:
Consistency, Consistency, Consistency!
Effective branding is all about ensuring your company's image, uses the same colours, fonts and messages throughout both your printed and online marketing.

My clients always receive a short brand guide with their new design, detailing the colours used in RGB and CMYK formats or Pantone references, along with the names of fonts used. This enables them to create strong brands by ensuring consistency across all platforms and sizes, from business cards, to exhibition display and their digital representations.

So you don't have to be a world wide known brand to be recognised and remembered, just follow the three Cs! Please feel free to DM me if you would like to talk about your brand this summer, whether you are just starting up or need a refresh.

This wonderful spring weather is set to continue into the bank holiday, making the perfect start for a month of exploring the Hampshire countryside surrounding our much loved market town, with Alton's 2021 Walking & Cycling Festival.

Alton Town Council commissioned me to design a brochure promoting the first Walking Festival in 2014. At the start it was only a two date event, in the following 7 years the festival has grown to a month long event, with a new cycling weekend added last year. I'm proud to be part of helping a great local festival flourish, as I was born in Alton and returned to live and work in the town and surrounding area 30 years ago, now living and working in Selborne. One of the motifs I've used throughout the brochure is the Chalk Hill Blue butterfly which is native to Hampshire's flinty habitats.
