Made from Scotland.
Between 1882 and 1890, Hopetoun House bore witness to the construction of the world-renowned Forth Bridge—one of the greatest engineering achievements of the Victorian era.
High above the Firth of Forth, 4,600 men and boys, known locally as "The Briggers", risked their lives in dangerous conditions to build this iconic landmark.
Today, The Briggers are a dedicated volunteer-led group based in South Queensferry, researching and preserving the remarkable stories of the men and boys who built, maintained and restored the Forth Bridges. https://www.briggers.com/
We're delighted to welcome The Briggers to Victorian Day at Hopetoun, where they'll bring this incredible history to life with a fascinating talk and a live rivet demonstration.
Come and discover the people behind one of Scotland's greatest landmarks.
