A website doesn’t have to be broken to need changing.

Sometimes, your business has simply moved on.

You’ve gained experience, services and prices have changed, your ideal clients have changed and your confidence has changed.

But your website is still telling the story of your business you were three years ago, sound familiar?

This is something I’ve been thinking about A LOT whilst rebuilding our very own website, because the old site isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just no longer the reflection of the business I’ve built.

A website refresh shouldn’t mean making everything look “prettier” just for the sake of it. Sometimes it just means stepping back and asking: Who am I trying to reach? What do I actually offer? What do I want potential customers to understand within the first few seconds? Does the way I present myself match the experience provide?

That’s the kind of thinking that goes into the websites I create and exactly what I’m applying to my own.

So if you’re in doubt, open your website and look at it as if you have never seen your business before. Would you enquire? Would you trust it? Would you immediately understand what you offer? And does it look like the business you run today?

If not, perhaps it’s time for a rethink 🤎

A website designer admitting she hasn’t updated her own website in 3 years. Controversial, I know. 👀

Keeping your website up to date is absolutely key and it should reflect where your business is now, what you offer, who you work with and most importantly, give potential clients a reason to get in touch.

So why has mine been sitting here untouched since 2023?

Honestly? I've been busy doing everyone else's.

Over the last few years, Cheshire Design Projects has changed quite a lot. I've worked on branding, websites, print, social media design and artwork for some brilliant businesses and somewhere along the way my own website stopped reflecting the business I'd actually built.

Which is slightly ironic when one of the things I tell clients is: Don't let your website become an afterthought.

So, this is the before.

The screenshot you're looking at is the current homepage banner and I'm sharing it for a reason.

Because this is about to change.

I'm currently working behind the scenes on a completely new Cheshire Design Projects website that reflects where I am now, what I actually do, the experience I've gained over the last seven years and most importantly, how I can help businesses do exactly the same!

I'm going to be sharing the process along the way, so you'll get to see the new site take shape before it launches.

If you’ve been following for a while, you’ll know I’ve never been brilliant at keeping up with social media.

Ironically, that’s because I’ve been busy doing the work I love.

Over the past year I’ve worked with some fantastic businesses on branding, websites, artwork and marketing materials, but very little of it has actually made it onto here.

That changes today.
