Hi, I'm Lucinda, I’m a marketer, copywriter and conversion geek…

I’ve been obsessed with human behaviour and wanted to really understand why people do what they do and how you can influence them. I’m a three-time finalist in The National Entrepreneur Awards, a finalist in the Elite Business Awards and I’ve spent 20 years (yes, I’m older than I look!) studying everything from psychology, body language and micro-expressions to neurolinguistic programming, sales and marketing. That’s why I’m ridiculously excited that we’re exhibiting at the Southampton B2B Expos at the Utilita Bowl, Southampton.

My teenager wanted to get out of the house more often and away from his PC (yay!) so we got Mr D’s old bike out of the shed, gave it a spruce up and sent him on his way.

He loves it. The ability to go out and about on his own whenever he wants.

There’s just one problem…

The wheels rub a bit, the chain is sticky and one of the gears just won’t shift.

This is probably because the last time it was ridden was when my husband jumped it on a pump track, stacked it, broke his wrist into multiple pieces and detached a tendon…

But the bike came out of it not too bad… It just needs a bit of a service.

So I turned to our trusty local Facebook group to ask for recommendations - and two companies came up.
I checked out the first one - recommended by multiple people, good reviews… but no posts on their page since 2020.

Ok, I thought… perhaps they went out of business.

So I checked out the other… same thing. No website, just a page and no posts since 2021.

Not exactly confidence inspiring. So I abandoned that plan, hopped onto Google and found a local shop instead.

But the thing is, I’ve since found out these companies have not gone out of business. They’re still trading - they just haven’t popped a post up for half a decade.

And it’s not an uncommon thing.

Time after time do I come across companies that are not active enough on social media - they think that because they don’t advertise or get any reach from their posts it’s not worth it - but it is.

Because before customers buy, they check you out. Maybe you were recommended or perhaps they found you on Google, but they go to your socials to see your reviews, your activity and to scope you out.

So, don’t let your profiles get out of date - just a little post every now and then to show you’re still alive and kicking can build trust, increase your credibility and make people more likely to get in touch.

Ever felt like your ads must be working… because the leads are coming in?
Yeah…That’s what my new client thought too.

They’ve been running Google Ads for months. Leads were coming in. Phones were ringing. So everything seemed fine.

But they weren’t properly tracking results.

No end-to-end view of what was actually converting.
No clarity on cost per sale.
No way to see which campaigns were working - and which were quietly draining cash.

And I get it. Setting up proper tracking isn’t sexy. It’s fiddly. It takes time and tech and patience.

But without it, you're flying blind.

Once we set up proper tracking and analysed the past 6 weeks, the truth hit hard…

They were losing around £2k a month.

That’s not a small blip. That’s a leaky bucket.

Roll that mistake out over 12 months and that’s 24k down the drain for no good reason…

But here’s the good news: now we know, we can fix it.

Because tracking doesn’t just show you what’s going wrong - it tells you where to focus.

Now we’ve got the data, we’re moving into phase two:

• Testing different offers
• Reworking ad copy
• Adjusting landing pages
• Playing with different CTAs
• Monitoring every step of the funnel

We’re not just throwing money at ads and hoping anymore - we’re optimising, analysing and making the data-driven changes necessary to get results.

And this is how ads become an investment, not just an expense.

Ever dressed up as a squirrel, weaved a basket and danced the night away to Ibiza classics played by a symphony orchestra? You’re missing out…

A couple of weeks ago Mr D and I went to Camp Wildfire to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.

It’s not so much a festival - more a full on summer camp for adults. The days are packed with activities of your choice and the nights are filled with guest speakers, music and comedians.

It’s the second time we’ve been - and we loved it.

But it isn’t just the zip lining, wood whittling and archery battles that keep us coming back…It’s the people.

They’ve created a community. A tribe. A culture.

Pick a patrol (like a Harry Potter house) and those people are your tribe for the whole weekend. Everywhere you go you’ll find people dressed in your patrol colours, chanting your patrol chants, teaming up with you at the games and just being your instant best friends.

Now, I’m not telling you this to sell you on coming to Camp Wildfire next year (although if you like fun you really should) but I’m sharing this because it’s probably one of the best executions of building a community in business that I’ve ever come across.

We all know that community is a powerful way to keep people coming back - but it goes deeper than that.

It taps into some of our most basic human needs.

The need to belong.
To be seen.
To feel safe with others who “get” us.

In a world where so much feels disconnected and transactional, a strong community creates emotional glue.

It makes people feel part of something bigger.
It gives them identity, pride and purpose.
It gives them people to celebrate wins with - and lean on when things wobble.

That’s why in membership-based subscriptions, people might join for the content… but they stay for the connection.

Because leaving a community doesn’t just mean missing out on resources.
It means losing part of your tribe.

And that’s not something people walk away from easily.

Think they pretty much captured my whole personality in these pics… I was super grateful for the invitation to speak at the FSB Hampshire, Dorset and Isle of Wight event at Foundry Space on Wednesday. It took him 2 years to get a sale out of me…

A couple of years ago, I went to a free workshop on imposter syndrome to help me get over my fear of public speaking.

I’ve always been a funny mix of totally willing and able to speak publicly, but internally anxious and slightly panicky.

It was a great session. Run by a coach who lives locally. And his advice worked - since then, I’ve spoken on stages across the UK and online, in front of thousands of people and with zero anxiety.

After the workshop, he put me on his mailing list. And every week since then, he’s sent me an interesting, story-based and value-focused email.

Every week. For two years. With no sales.

Recently, a family member needed a little help, and guess who popped into my head? This coach.

I forwarded his latest email, which just so happened to be a good offer with a short deadline, and my family member went ahead and purchased.

This story is the perfect example of consistent marketing in action. What would have happened if that coach had emailed me once or twice - or even for 6 months - then stopped?

Nothing. I’d have forgotten about him.

But instead, his consistency, his repetition, his “keeping top of mind” in my inbox led to him making a good chunky sale.

That’s why consistency matters in marketing.

So if you’re email marketing and not seeing sales, remember, it’s not just about what you can get from your list today, it’s about building a good foundation for the future.

It’s about staying top of mind, building trust and becoming the obvious go-to person in that prospect’s mind whenever they are ready to buy.

I lost this match…

She totally kicked my ass. Again.

It’s not surprising - she’s a world champion.

But I fight her every opportunity I get.

Not because I think I can beat her - but because being around people who are better than you is how you improve.

Every time I step up to the piste, I know I’m going to lose. But every time I lose, I learn, and I get better.

Being around someone who’s already mastered what you’re still figuring out? That’s where the real progress happens.

“People just aren’t engaging with our content.”

I hear this one a lot.

And more often than not, the problem isn’t the product… or the platform… It’s the way you’re telling the story (or not telling one at all).

Because facts, figures and information? They’re all forgettable. But a good story? That sticks.

Stories trigger emotion, build trust, and make your brand feel human. And in marketing, that’s half the battle.

Overheard an interesting conversation in Tesco Express yesterday…

Had just popped in to grab supplies for a big family BBQ, and while hunting for brioche buns, I overheard two lads chatting in the next aisle.

One, maybe 22 or 23 years old, was telling the younger one that a degree in graphic design was a great idea.

“Good skill to have. Worth the money,” he said.

And all I could think was…

£𝟯𝟬–£𝟱𝟬𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘁… 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲.

Now don’t get me wrong - I’ve got massive respect for designers. AI’s not quite there yet. It still makes some weird, glitchy stuff.

But give it a few years? Entry-level graphic design roles are going to be few and far between.

And the saddest part? The education system isn’t preparing young people for that reality. It’s pushing them down paths that won’t exist by the time they graduate.

AI is already transforming entire industries. And it’s not slowing down.

Said it before and I’ll keep saying it: 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲.

Teach your kids (and your staff!) how to use AI now. Integrate it into your business practices. Develop the skills in your people so they can work with AI - not get replaced by it.

That’s how businesses (and people!) stay relevant - and profitable.

It’s what I help my clients do every day.

Move with the times (instead of against them!) and implement practical tools that save time, cut costs, and make smarter marketing decisions.

Because the world is moving fast - and standing still is the fastest way to get left behind.
