There are only two types of magicians I know in this world -
1. Those who can create / make anything they want
2. Those who can market /sell anything they want
3. Ones who can do both fall in the category of GODs

Before asking others, ask yourself

Before helping others, help yourself

Before changing others, change yourself

Before loving others, love yourself

"The artist does not create art, rather the art creates him"

Could not quite understand the quote at first, but got really curious and asked my friend, Prashant Pandey (professional artist). Here's how he explained it beautifully (in his own words) -

Art is something that cannot be talked about because it's way more than words and definitions. One can talk about skills, methods, and techniques.

Whenever I am working on a painting, I end up creating something totally different than what I had in my mind when I started painting it.

Once I'm done with the initial stage, the painting itself starts guiding me through the process, like for eg. what elements need to be added, what colors need to be at which place, and so on.

By the end of the session, when I finally drop my brush, I have something that I never ever imagined that I'd create.

And this process continues with each painting. It affects my sub-conscious mind and thought process... and then comes a stage where I start observing things, people, and my surroundings as a subject for my painting and keep analyzing if I can use any of those.

So, in a way, I am in the process of painting even when I am not painting.. and my next work would be influenced by the techniques and the thought process I learned unconsciously while painting my previous piece.

Thus, I am actually not creating art.. but the art has created me and it keeps updating my subconscious from time to time, so you eventually become a product of your creation.

On Habits -

👉Personalize as per what works best for you. There is no strict rule.

👉The most imp thing is are you committed to do it everyday?

👉Multiple habits at a time did not work for me. One at a time works.

👉It took me about 40 days to make it a part of my lifestyle. It can take you less or more.

👉Start with your own identity of yourself. Change the story you tell yourself.

👉You have to really want it and you can't want it casually.

👉Don't have any expectations in mind. Focus only on the input, not the output.

👉Cut out all habits which might negatively impact your new identity with yourself. Make sure zero contradictions/conflict with self.

👉Set up a progress monitoring mechanism which is visible to you everyday. It is difficult to give up when you can clearly see your own progress everyday.

👉I used sticky notes and everyday after successful completion of habit, I put the note inside an empty, transparent jar. I built anticipation in advance by scribing for the next day but not putting it inside the jar.

👉Now, set up more visible cues to help remind you and follow through on your habit. Eg. I used to keep the yoga mat open the night before.

👉Do more of whatever positively impacts your new habit. Eg. For yoga/meditation, the type of food that we eat matters a lot.

👉Chances are you also want the reward - isn't that why you want to do it?

👉The reward will be a natural side effect of your commitment.

👉Having a long term view with a focus on your input will ensure you get the reward.

👉In the order of importance -
Do > consistency > form > reward

💡Parenting and its' effect on child development -

When a parent raises a child, they are often, at the same time, raising themselves too. A parent is limited by their own experiences, knowledge, wisdom, beliefs, perception, and ideas about the world which is so rapidly changing every day. Nobody knows what is right or wrong. But often, they see themselves as the "authority" and exercise "control" over the child - thinking that they are always "right" because of their so-many-years prior experience of the world. They fail to see things from the child's perspective / child-lens and instead, see from their own lenses. They have a feeling of "ownership". This limits the child's possibility. Human beings, including parents, are so deeply identified with themselves - their mind, body, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, that they react instinctively without thinking through deeply about the consequences of that on the child. Because of this happening in the world, child after child...are just reduced to another machine, indoctrinated by society. And society includes the parents..the teachers/educators, me, you..everyone. Thus, the child loses his/her uniqueness/potential and themselves.

I can't expect the world to change, but I can change myself.... as Mahatma Gandhi had said: "Be the change you wish to see in the world".

GenZ is really smart.

My younger brother ran out of money. So I asked him to use whatever pocket money he has left to double it. If he's able to double the money he has left, then I'd reward him double the total amount.

What I did not plan for is what he came up with! Lol
