Bad Saturn Media Bad Saturn publishes art books and sounds that inspire thought, conversation, and action.

Our parent company was founded in 2016 to help artists and entrepreneurs realize the full vision of their creative projects. Our mission is simple: to create a more care-full world through our work.

Artists: Bad Saturn is seeking coloring book concepts that refuse polite neutrality and instead offer emboldening, artist-led encounters with grief, pleasure, resistance, or radical imagination. If your work centers voices and lived experiences that mainstream publishing still sidelines, we want to read it.

Bad Saturn is building a constellation of coloring books that treat the page as a site of revolutionary care. Please share with any artists whose work aligns.

Reading period closes June 30th.

🕊️ Between a Frame and a Soft Place Zine is now available for wider release.

Hand-bound with waxed linen thread and a vellum cover, this 44-page zine extends the 2025 exhibition at Millennium Film Workshop into the hands of readers — an intimate collection of writing and art exploring digital distortion, grief, and the quiet violence of being seen.

Edited by Michèle Saint-Michel and published by Bad Saturn Media, the zine features 24 contributors whose work lingers between touch and transmission:
Alexandra Mauriello, Andrea Hackl, Anton Lushankin, Christina Bauernfeind, Clara ChacĂłn, Collette Rayner, Fran Hayes, Gabriela Milkova Robins, Gel Press, Ginny Darke, indexthumb, Jamie Yuan, Kevin Chen, Lauren Dana Smith, Maike Helbig, Matt McKinzie, Olivia Burgess, Rachel Sun E., Riley Tu, Riverstone, Vincent Katz, Zara Joan Miller.

To the generation that coined the term "situationship" đź’” Ontology of Us was written to accompany a returned vinyl record after a breakup. The longing in the voice and poetry in this track will take you right back to your last heartbreak. Brutally honest and devastatingly beautiful, Saint-Michel gets lost in love in Peckham and reminds us that true heartache leaves our heads full of questions and our hearts restless in our hands.

We're happy to announce the release of Ontology of Us by Michèle Saint-Michel! OUT NOW on Spotify, Apple Music and more palatable streaming platforms! Listen here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5g0NWqWpuucoVzrA8dk8g7?si=sZhdQh7GSzWUj8AsVkwCPA

From Michèle: "Happy to share my first album coming in 2025! As a big time Daniel Johnston fan, I’m thrilled to be working with his longtime producer and collaborator, KRAMER along with his label Shimmy-Disc. When I move to NYC this fall we’ll be expanding this new audio work “Ontology of Us” into a full experimental album—and I couldn’t be more excited for you all to experience this journey with me."

“Someone reading a book is a sign of order in the world,” wrote the poet Mary Ruefle. At Bad Saturn, we believe in the power of literature and art to bring order and care to the world. Mary Ruefle's words resonate deeply with our mission. Every reader is a testament to the order that comes from understanding and empathy.

Our commitment to thought-provoking art books and albums goes hand in hand with our mission. Through these creations, we aim to amplify the voices of underrepresented authors and artists, fostering a platform for their stories to be heard.

Delving into challenging subjects like grief and trauma, we strive to bring attention to important issues, sparking meaningful dialogues that lead to positive action. Thank you for being a part of the Bad Saturn community. Your support fuels our mission to inspire thought, conversation, and positive change. Together, let's continue creating a more care-full world.
