Sometimes there's no option but to be blunt. MOST business Facebook posts are a complete waste of bloody time. I know, the irony is staring me in the face too.

You spend twenty minutes crafting a "perfect" post, find a half-decent image, and hit publish. What happens? Usually, absolutely sod all. You might get three likes (one from your mum and two from your staff) - but pretty much from people who already know you and are giving you a 'like' to be polite - and then it is buried in the feed within the hour. Effectively dead.

The reality is that organic reach for small businesses on Facebook is pathetic - has been for years. If you're not paying to play, you're basically shouting into a void.

It's a treadmill that never stops. And, quite frankly, it rarely gets you a single lead. I know people who get thousands of views but no sales - regularly.

Compare that to your own website.

When you put high-quality, optimised content on your own website (a blog as most people call it), it becomes a permanent asset. It doesn't bu**er off in an hour or two. It stays there, working for you, getting found by people actually searching with umpteen search phrases and questions that relate to what you do... On Google, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Perplexity (etc) for months, even years later.

If you want to stop wasting hours on social media rubbish and start building content that actually generates enquiries and sales, give me a call.

Let's have a proper chat.

You might be showing up on Google… but completely invisible everywhere else.

That’s the problem now.

Your customers are asking AI tools, not just searching, and most businesses aren’t even in those answers.

Three quick searches will tell you exactly where you stand, and where you’re being ignored.

Read the guide linked below, run the checks, and see it for yourself.

Last year, 6% of consumers used AI tools to find local businesses.

Today, it's 45%.

ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, Perplexity - people are asking these tools "who should I call?" and the tools are picking for them.

Not showing a list.

Picking.

If your business isn't clearly described, well-reviewed, and consistent across the web, you're not even in the running.

I wrote about what this means for small businesses and what you can actually do about it. Link in the comments.

Quick question for any local business posting on Facebook.

How many of those likes turned into actual paying customers?

Be honest.

Facebook got the content. Facebook got the engagement. Facebook got the data. You got what? A few likes.

I see it all the time. Great content, good photos, decent engagement. All of it living and dying inside Facebook where Google can't see it, AI search can't find it, and new customers rarely do.

Meanwhile, the person searching Google right now for the exact service you offer probably has no idea you exist. Because your best content is buried in a social feed that disappears by tomorrow.

Your website could turn that same content into something that brings in enquiries for years. Not hours.

I wrote about why this keeps happening, and what actually works instead.

Look, I know this post won’t get seen by many people and that is part of the point to it - and the article I'm linking to.

Scroll through Facebook for five minutes and you’ll see what I mean.

AI cartoons.
AI motivational quotes.
AI videos made from stock clips.
Posts that took about ten seconds to generate and say absolutely nothing useful.

Businesses are churning this stuff out daily and calling it “content”.

It isn’t.

It’s noise.

Meanwhile the businesses actually investing time in proper, helpful information about what they do are the ones being found in Google searches and AI answers. They’re the ones appearing when someone asks a real question about a service or problem.

Search engines and AI systems are not looking for AI generated cartoons.

They’re looking for useful answers written by people who actually know what they’re talking about.

So while Facebook fills up with colourful nonsense, the businesses quietly publishing real content are the ones growing their visibility - and their customer base.

Something worth having takes effort.

Exposure online is no different.

If you're interested in the full rant, here’s the article.

Businesses filling social media with AI fluff wonder why nothing happens. The ones writing useful, real content are the ones showing up in search results.

WOW! We all love to know that we're doing a good job, don't we? And many go above and beyond every day. I like to go above and beyond every day with every bit of work I do... So to get a phone call praising my work, followed by a glowing review, absolutely made my day and made me believe all the effort is worthwhile.

Received today from Lincolnshire Memorials Ltd:

I have been working with Martin from 28 Pixels for several months now, and I can honestly say it has been a fantastic experience.

Before working with Martin, I had tried a few different companies that offered website and online marketing services, but none of them delivered results the way 28 Pixels has.

From the very beginning, Martin showed a real understanding of what my business needed and how to improve our online presence.

28 Pixels helped us with our website, content creation, optimisation and everything related to growing our online visibility.

The difference has been huge.

After just a few months of working together, we started noticing a significant increase in customer enquiries and new clients finding our business online.

What I appreciate the most is Martin’s professionalism, communication and genuine commitment to helping our business grow. He doesn’t just build websites – he actively works on improving them and making sure they bring real results.

Another big advantage is that the pricing is very reasonable and affordable, especially considering the quality of the work and the results we are seeing.

I’m extremely grateful for the work he has done for our company and I highly recommend 28 Pixels to anyone who wants to improve their website and grow their business online.

Thank you, Martin, for the great work and ongoing support.

You posted. It reached 12,000 people.

- Your phone didn't ring.
- Nobody visited your website.
- No enquiries. No sales.

But hey, great reach, right?

Reach is what Facebook wants you to celebrate. It keeps you posting, keeps you on the platform, and keeps you off the question that actually matters.

Did any of those 12,000 people become a customer?
If the answer is usually silence, your marketing isn't working. It's just performing.

I've written about this. Link in the comments.

Most small business websites don’t have a traffic problem. You do have a website, right? You do get visitors, right?

Good. Phew...

Most websites have a wording problem.

I see this all the time when reviewing local websites.

- The business is good.
- The service is good.
- The people are good.

But the website says things like:

“We provide high-quality services tailored to your needs.”

Which sounds fine… but could be describing literally anyone.

Small changes in wording can massively increase enquiries.

I’ve written an article explaining the difference between DIY website words and words that actually convert customers, with real examples.

If you’ve ever wondered why your website isn’t bringing as many enquiries as you expected, this will help.

Your flyer isn't a Facebook post.

I know that sounds obvious when you say it out loud. But I see it every single day.

A business spends real time designing something in Canva - bright colours, pricing (sometimes), contact details, the lot - then uploads the whole thing as an image and waits for the enquiries to roll in.

They don't. Silence.

Because on a phone, that flyer becomes a tiny, unreadable rectangle.

Nobody zooms in.

Nobody squints at your pricing.

They scroll past, and by tomorrow your post has sunk without trace.

But don't get me wrong - your flyer isn't useless. The content in it is actually valuable. It just needs to go somewhere that can do something with it.

Put it on your website. Properly. Then use Facebook to point people there.

Your website page stays findable for years. A Facebook post lasts about six hours on a good day.

I've written about this properly on the 28 Pixels blog - why flyers are raw material, not finished marketing, and what to do instead.

There's a huge difference between shouting into the void on social media and actually being found by someone who has their credit card in their hand and a problem to solve.

The way people find local businesses is changing fast 🔍

Social media is brilliant for a tiny bit of visibility, but if that's your only online presence, you're missing customers who are ready to spend.

The new generation of search tools - AI assistants, smart results - need proper information to work with, not just posts that disappear down the feed.

Martin 28 Pixels Ltd in Louth knows this stuff inside and out and helps Louth businesses build the kind of online content that gets found when it matters most - when someone is actually looking to buy.

Worth a conversation if you're serious about being discovered by customers who are ready to commit, not just scroll.
