The most expensive items in our wardrobes are the ones we don’t wear.

Yes, colour analysis is an initial cost but do you gain that money back? Yes… 10x over!

How often have we bought items thinking it was a bargain or something we thought we loved because of our mood that day…. or indeed … missing the items that were practically made for us, that we would wear time and time again and that would love us back.

Mark here is experiencing first hand the instant impact colour has on us and our business.

At a network meeting in Pinney Talfourd Solicitors - For Life with Havering Chamber of Commerce , Mark instantly caught my eye (bearing in mind I had not spoken to him directly before ).

Subconsciously in my mind, my impression of him was that he was friendly and he would be lovely to speak with. That was happening subconsiously!

Communication is 55% visual (Mehrabian’s Communication Model) and whether we like it or not, a first impression of us is made within the first 7 seconds of meeting someone.

Later on Mark approached me and mentioned how the spotlight talk I shared at the Lumiere in a previous network meeting had inspired him to have a rebrand. He took colour and used it effectively and now his business Security Masters is instantly recognisable.

My school had Ofsted back in April and us teachers know the feelings that come racing through our bodies when we get the call!

There is rollercoaster of emotions from the moment they step in to watch our lessons, being interviewed by them or taking them around on a learning walk.

Nevertheless, one thing we can control is being prepared with our knowledge about our teaching, subject and school and showing up and being present in the most authentic way possible.

With my knowledge of my best colours and style I was able to pick an outfit, shoes and accessories that not only communicated competency, approachability but also confidence (even when the nerves kicked in) The joy is that what shows on the outside, starts trickling inwards and changes our mental state… it’s called enclothed cognition.

We can be in control of the story we tell and knowing what makes us feel confident and authentic is empowering and freeing.
