ALAN TITCHMARSH SAYS NOW IT IS THE TIME TO PLANT TO FEED RED SQUIRRELS
Britain’s popular gardener, and an ambassador for the Red Squirrel Survival Trust, Alan Titchmarsh, advises nature loving gardeners to start planting trees now that will feed reds as their population expands. The trees and plants recommended by Alan are walnut, hazelnut, conifer seeds, holly berries, crab apples, wild and bird cherries, Bullace, Dogrose and Guelder rose hips, blackberries and raspberries.

We've received some good news about red squirrel numbers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland from the Red Squirrel Survival Trust. Feedback from many volunteer groups confirms that numbers remain stable and that, in most areas, the 2023 breeding season was successful.
