A young dressage horse shod today (only 2nd time been shod) that’s just coming into work from a yard I see regular. This horse was shod with extra length to give support at the caudal aspect of the hoof to prevent hyper flexion of the fetlock joint in both front and hind feet as this horse was a little long in the pastern and with working on artificial surfaces gave such support. he didn’t tend well to the steel first time round due to weight and with talk with the experience of the rider Aluminium was the way to go.

Latest statement regarding Farriery during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

I will be contacting all customers/yard owners prior to our scheduled appointments.

Following yesterday evening’s announcement by The Prime Minister of further restrictions to combat the spread of the Coronavirus, the FRC engaged with Government to seek agreement that the work of farriers be allowed to continue.

To all Customers,

With the corona virus developments I just wanted to let you all know that I intend to continue business as usual where possible for the time being. In line with government guidelines, all I would ask for is reasonable distancing when visiting yards and to please let me know if you or anyone on the yard is unwell. Please don’t be offended when I turn down a coffee, cake or even sandwiches but I will keep my flask with me and sort myself. I am more than happy to sort horses by myself if you feel this is best.

If you don’t want me to visit your yard or you are thinking of changing what the horses have done (ie fronts instead of sets), please could you let me know ASAP.

The world might be grinding to a halt but our horses still need our care and attention to stay fit and sound.

Please stay safe and be sensible during these times.

Many thanks Ben
