One thing I've always loved about marketing is helping people grow in their careers.

Over the years, I've trained and mentored more than 60 graduate and junior marketers, and honestly, seeing someone go from feeling completely overwhelmed to becoming a confident marketer is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

A lot of businesses want to bring in a graduate because they have loads of potential (and usually lots of fresh ideas too!), but they don't always have an experienced marketing manager in-house to guide them.

That's exactly why I've launched my Graduate Marketing Training & Mentoring Programme.

Think of it as giving your graduate their own marketing sounding board, trainer and mentor, helping them develop practical skills, confidence and commercial understanding while supporting your business at the same time.

If you're considering hiring a marketing graduate this summer, or already have someone in a junior marketing role who could benefit from a bit of extra support, I'd love to have a chat.

One of the things I genuinely enjoy most about marketing is helping others build the confidence to do it themselves.
With over 25 years of marketing experience, FCIM status and being Chartered in Marketing since 2010, I offer practical, jargon-free marketing training for businesses, charities and individuals across Wirral, Liverpool, Chester, Manchester and the wider North West.
Whether it's social media, SEO, email marketing, PR, content creation or simply understanding the fundamentals of marketing, my training is designed to be hands-on, actionable and tailored to your organisation.
There's nothing better than seeing that moment when the penny drops and someone realises marketing doesn't have to be complicated!
If you'd like to upskill your team, develop an in-house marketing function or invest in your own professional development, I'd love to help.

Can I have a little freelancer rant for a moment? 😊

One of the biggest challenges of running your own business isn’t finding work – it’s waiting to be paid for work that’s already been completed.

When invoices are paid late, it creates a knock-on effect. Freelancers and small businesses still have bills to pay, software subscriptions to cover, suppliers to settle and, of course, mortgages and family expenses just like everyone else.

Most of us are incredibly understanding when there’s a genuine issue, but a quick email and a realistic payment date go a long way.

The reality is that late payment fees and statutory interest exist for a reason. They're there to encourage businesses to pay on time and protect smaller suppliers from carrying the financial burden.

So here's my gentle reminder: if you've received an invoice and the work has been delivered, please just pay it on time. It keeps businesses healthy, relationships positive, and means we can all spend less time chasing invoices and more time doing the work we love.

❗️ Dates revealed! Weekly food waste collections are starting in Wirral from 6 July, in three phases:

🍏 The week beginning Monday 6 July
🧀 The week beginning Monday 27 July
🍞 The week beginning Monday 17 August

From June, you'll start receiving:

🗑️ An outdoor food waste caddy with a secure lid
🗑️ A smaller kitchen caddy for everyday use
🗑️ A roll of liners and information about how to use the service

A sticker on your outdoor caddy will tell you whether your food waste collections start on the week beginning 6 July, 27 July or 17 August. Your collections will be on the same day as your grey and green bin collection.

The new service is part of the Government’s ‘Simpler Recycling’ programme which has already seen a significant change this year in Wirral, with foil, aerosol sprays, plastic tubs and trays and drinks cartons now able to be recycled in your grey bins.

Look out for more updates soon.

The HSE is consulting on proposed changes to RIDDOR reporting requirements – and businesses across all sectors should be paying attention.

The proposed updates could mean:
✔️ More occupational diseases becoming reportable
✔️ Changes to dangerous occurrence reporting
✔️ Wider healthcare professionals able to trigger reports
✔️ Simplified online reporting processes

For employers, contractors and duty holders, now is the time to review your current incident reporting procedures and make sure your organisation is prepared for potential changes ahead.
