Real life in January ~

It's been a beautiful and fast paced January. It's also been boring, sooo long, full of days indoors chilling, walks, changeable weather, good food, and countless loads of washing, cleaning, tidying, homework and everything that makes the household run. Oh and of course work...cause that's really life. Boring, mundane, beautiful life that needs to be done daily to get you through the month and ensure you can buy food, live and go on the occasional day trip or have the odd takeaway.

It's life as you don't see it on so many social media pages. Perhaps in 2026 we could create a more believable and relatable site to scroll?

This little cottage captured our hearts when we visited the botanics in over Christmas.

"The Botanic Cottage originally stood at the entrance to a long lost incarnation of the Botanics, across the city on Leith Walk.

It was built in 1764, but after the Garden moved to Inverleith in the early 1820s, the cottage became a private home, but by the mid-2000s it had been abandoned and set on fire. Fortunately, a community campaign, working with the Botanics, saved the cottage. It was moved stone by stone across Edinburgh, and rebuilt in our Demonstration Garden, where schools, students and community groups have plots. It was rebuilt with all of the stones and timbers going back in the correct places, and finished so that it looks as good as it did 250 years ago."

There’s something powerful about places like this. They teach us that healing is possible, that our stories matter, and that when we rebuild ourselves with intention, we can become even more than we were before.

January is quite lovely isn't it...

It's a time for reflection, for starting a fresh, for completely gutting every inch of your home.
A time to wish for snow, and school to be cancelled.
A time to really crank up the heating bill.
A time where the days seem long, and the month never-ending.

For some, it's just another month, in another year.

I'm not hoping for a new me, I have no resolutions or special words to live by, I'm not starting a fresh.

BUT I am going to continue on this crazy journey through life. The one that brings ups and downs. The one where I'll cry and laugh. I'll accomplish somethings and not others and I'll have a jolly lovely time doing it 😃

Remember to do you. Live your life the way you want BUT don't forget to actually live it!

Happy New Year!!

Aren't we lucky to have the ability to live the life we want, the life we dream of. It's no wonder that we get sidetracked, dream big, feel every emotion, question ourselves and our choices. Sometimes it can be quite a lot.

I wonder what 2026 will hold, not just for me but those around me. Those closest to us that we spend hours talking to, and those people that we simply say a quick morning 'Hi' to.

I hope 2026 brings wonder, surprises, and beautiful moments that we cherish.

It's decoration day ~

The decs are up all over the house, it feels full, and lovely and cosy.

We don't have a colour scheme that runs through each room, but we do have homemade decorations that engulf the tree with names, cardboard, foam, ribbon and string.

We had a few hours of giddy kids! They were so excited about seeing all their old creations....it took triple the amount of time, but in 5 weeks it will all be over so every second was worth it.

Be present...no matter how long it takes! 😉🤣

Changing seasons ~

What's you favourite season?

This might be controversial, but...I don't have one.

I know that some people like to lie in the heat of the sun, toes scrunched into the sand, or perhaps you love the newness of spring, maybe the soups, stews and rainy days of Autumn, or the chill of the snow and the promise of a hot chocolate.

I love it all?! But my absolute favourite thing about the different seasons is the change. The change in the warmth of the sun, the humidity, the crisp wintery mornings, the beauty of the trees, and the appearance of the green shoots.

The reminders that change is good, natural, and necessary.

It's an important aspect of growth, of the life we lead and the person we are.

As one season ends and another begins, remember...

Your season of life will change, and so will your goals, priorities, and energy.
That’s not inconsistency; that’s evolution.

In business and in life, growth comes from leaning into those seasonal shifts.
Keep moving forward with intention and Surprise Yourself!
