"Is it safe to come out?" we say peeping out of our allotment shed.

The number of emails from businesses and charities that we've been receiving regarding them loosing access to their social media accounts due to not having set up the two-factor authentication process on their channels is creeping up like ivy in the garden!

Setting up the two-step authentication process is quick and easy to do and protects your account from being taken over by unwanted visitors.

To set up two-step authentication on Facebook:

- Click on your profile picture in the top right, then click settings and privacy

- Click settings

- Click Accounts Centre, then click password and security

- Click Two-factor authentication, then click on the account that you'd like to update

- Choose the security method that you want to add and follow the on-screen instructions

When you set up two-factor authentication on Facebook, you'll be asked to choose one of three security methods:

- Tapping your security key on a compatible device.

- Login codes from a third-party authentication app.

- Text message (SMS) codes from your mobile phone.

Once you've turned on two-factor authentication, you can get ten recovery login codes to use when you're unable to use your phone.

We hope this helps, if you want to learn how to set up the two-factor authentication process on Instagram, head over our founder's Instagram account here: www.instagram.com/littleseedellen

Also be sure to press the "like" button on this post to let us know you've set your two-factor authentication process up on your account.

One of the best pieces of advice we can give is to be selective as to which social media channels to use to grow online.

Don’t use every single channel – instead, think about who your target market is and research what channels these type of audiences will be on. For example, if you’re a B2B organisation, then it is highly likely that LinkedIn would be the perfect channel for you. Meanwhile, if you are an artist then an visual platform such as Instagram will probably be the place to be.

Being selective with your channels will help you to become more focussed. Our motto is that it’s always best to do one channel well than to have five channels and use them badly.

Hope this helps, folks. 😊

Our books are now open for those who looking to sow the seeds for success with their on and offline communications.

During your discovery call, you'll receive a handful of ideas on how to move forward with your organisational challenges and gain an insight into whether we're the right agency for you to partner with.

We love working with clients who:
- have a great sense of humour
- say what they mean
- understand the value and importance of quality marketing, PR and social media services
- treat people with kindness (yes, we have declined several client projects due to how prospective clients treated baristas at Costa Coffee, Starbucks and Cafe Nero during our first meet up)
- fond of wildlife, bonus points if you are a fan of hedgehogs (we work with hedgehogs through our business)

Do get in touch if this sounds like you.

Email marketing personalisation is more than simply addressing your customers by their name.

Personalisation enables brands to customise their email content to appeal to their subscribers. This results in greater open and click-through rates and improves relations sales.

There are many ways that emails can be personalised to create a more bespoke experience. To find out more visit: littleseedgroup.co.uk/why-personalisation-is-key-in-email-marketing

We are so pleased to have received this lovely bit of feedback on Google Reviews the other day. 😊

We recently supported a charity based in North Yorkshire who had some technical issues with their Facebook account. We re-established the account, resolved the tech issues and advised them on how to safeguard their account for the future.

If you are in a techy pickle with your channels then get in touch, we'd love to help.

Building public awareness is key to boosting donations and support for charities. Good charity will help you reach potential donors and raise awareness for your cause.

Of course, many charities operate to a strict budget with limited resources, to maximise the awork they can do for their beneficiaries. While this can make it difficult to run a full-on charity , doing a little here and there will slowly help your charity to grow and thrive.

To find out more about how to PR your charity read our blog post here: www.littleseedgroup.co.uk/how-to-charity-pr

What is ?

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-Bound and its a great way to keep yourself focused on your objectives whilst at the same time making things happen in business.

By setting SMART marketing processes, you will have: - to be specific, in terms of thinking about what you have done, how it worked for your business and what you want to do more of in the future. - think strategically including evaluating past results, including what has worked and not worked. You will need to look at what resources you have available and work out how you can deliver on results including a strong plan to deliver on your objectives. - a clear and well-planned strategy that has an end result and the number of steps needed to reach the end goal.

Have you set up any SMART Marketing goals for your business in 2024? I'd love to hear what you have planned. If you are struggling to set your own SMART goals, then drop me a line

As many of you will know, we invest in British hedgehog work through our business. It is important to us to give back to the natural world and we hope our contribution makes such a huge difference.

As we're entering into the cooler months, we just wanted to remind you all that not all hedgehogs will hibernate during the winter months, especially if we have a mild winter. With little food resources around, it's vital that we provide food for these native creatures to sustain them until the spring.

To do this, simply place a bowl of small cat or dog biscuits out in a feeding station in your garden.

We hope you've found this useful, if you have any other questions about how to support hedgehogs this winter, then drop a message below. Also, don't forget to clean those food bowls regularly!

If you haven't used Google's disavow tool then I'd recommend using it on a monthly basis to protect your website from toxic backlinks.

Google's disavow tool allows webmasters to notify Google of poor-quality links that can have a long-term negative impact on website. When you use the tool you can inform Google of what external links to disregard when they evaluate the ranking factors of your website.

I hope you have found this useful, to find out more about Google's disavow tool and how to best use it visit my blog here: littleseedgroup.co.uk/disavow-toxic-seo-backlinks

Over the weekend, our wonderful client, The Greenthwaite Sculptor was featured on four pages of Yorkshire Post.

Janie is a well-known and respected sculptor based in York who hand carves sculptures for the home and garden.

We will have a few more PR pieces on Janie to be published, which I'll publish on my feed once they are published.

A big thank you to Sharon Dale for writing up Janie's story and to Simon Hulme who took the images of Janie's home, garden and sculptures. Happy , folks.

Emoji are often use to convey emotion in posts however I would always recommend using them sparingly unless you want to exclude 20% of your audience from being able to access the content.

The above video shows how text to speech software interprets emojis and I am sure you will agree, it is ruddy annoying!

The text on the video reads: This grinning face is grinning face what grinning face happens grinning face when grinning face you grinning face over use grinning face emojis.

The lesson learnt from this post is limit the amount of emojis you use in a post.

Hope you have found this useful. If you would like to learn how to create accessible social media content then do get in touch.

There have been plenty of new and exciting social media updates this July, with the stand out moment being the introduction of Meta's new social platform, Threads.

Although it has already gained 100 million users, Threads currently (in our opinion) is a disappointedly poor platform which could have launched and shown all the other social media platforms how to launch with accessibility in mind.

Threads currently does not have one accessibility function implemented, meaning many users are excluded from using the platform. Only time will tell if Threads is here to stay, it will be interesting to see how the platform develops over the coming months. In the meantime, these are our top three updates that we think you need to be aware off this month.

1 LinkedIn is launching a messaging inbox for LinkedIn business pages
LinkedIn will be shortly launching a messaging inbox for business pages and we cannot wait! The new functionality will enable businesses to have meaningful and private conversations with potential customers who can reach out directly to the brand through their LinkedIn page.

2 You can now add multiple links to your Instagram bio
Instagram is now providing you with the option to adding five links into your bio. To add additional links (which will be displayed as anchors on your profile) go to "edit profile", ‘links", "add external link". input a link, add a title and finally, click "done".

3 YouTube set to rolling out A/B testing for video thumbnails
YouTube is set to launch the new feature in the coming months to help organisations to make better data-driven decisions about their thumbnail strategies and we seriously cannot wait! A/B testing is a great way for organisations to better understand their viewers and what type of content will entice and encourage them to watch their content.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions then let us know.

Lead times for magazines differ greatly which is why it is important that any features you wish to secure are done in line with the magazine’s timeframes.

Typically, weekly magazines work 1-2 months ahead, whilst monthly magazines can range from 3 to 6 months in advance.

So, if you are looking to secure coverage in a Christmas edition of a monthly magazine, the time to start pitching to them is likely to be… now aka June!

If you have a particular magazine in mind that you would like to pitch to, but would like to know their exact lead times, then simply pick up the phone and ask.

We hope you’ve found this useful, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
