If I could tell you one thing for you to take with you into the weekend, it would be to realise that life is a constant learning process, and we all have something to teach and something to learn. Be willing to be taught and be receptive to new perspectives. Be open to growing yourself, your mind, and your skills.

Ultimately, stay curious, be open to new ideas, and seek opportunities for personal and professional growth!

Monday has already started, and some of us may have already jumped into the business of the week. But let's take a step back and ask: what am I pushing myself to do this week? What are the most important things that I need to accomplish by the end of it? And am I willing to sacrifice to get there?

Now, take your sticky notes and pen. Write down these four questions. Under each question, write the steps you are going to take to make each of them happen.

1. This is what I want to achieve this week.
2. This is the work I have to do to get it.
3. This is what I can delegate vs what I need to do myself.
4. This is what matters.

Remember: Don't just talk, act. Don't just say, show. Don't just promise, deliver and show proof.

A lot of business leaders have asked me why I'm so excited to partner with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), as they begin their journey to break down those walls from the north to the south and from the east to the west of Africa.

It is simple; we must remember that no one is going to do it for us. African brands are like African families, we have always known how to do it for ourselves. So, while we may rely on others, our foundation is always strong. That is why I believe in the future of brands in Africa.

It is possible if we can work within the global and local economic challenges knowing that these challenges are a part of our business evolution. And to also understand that the challenge of change will continually come and navigating the business brands through this period is part of the purpose of success. I truly believe that African business brands with purpose will respond to change and will sustain their growth to leave lasting legacies.

One thing I have learnt along my business journey: things always get better as long as you are prepared when the opportunity comes. But the right people behind you, speaking the right words in your ear, will change the way you see yourself and your potential. You can have progress on your own but great and sustainable success comes with having the right people in your corner.

Who’s in your corner? What kind of people do you surround yourself with? Remember that while everyone in your life is there for a reason, you need to know whose influence to embrace and whose to resist. You are a product of those you surround yourself with, so make sure it’s the best people.

Sometimes you sit down somewhere, and out of nowhere, you start thinking: “Why am I not doing well in life like my friends? I see my colleagues share their achievements and successes on LinkedIn, when would that be me?”

Maybe you thought you would have a business by now that's making a lot of money. Or that you had enough money to do that Master's degree. Or that you have earned that promotion at work. Or that you didn't have to worry so much about how you were going to pay your bills for next month.

I know that feeling. That feeling that you're not doing enough. But don't be too hard on yourself. Don't compare yourself to other people's journeys. Trust that you're making progress in your own time. As long as you know that you're working hard and getting better, that will lead you to where you want to be. It doesn't matter how long it is or how fast it will be. The most important thing is you're putting in the work always, networking, and putting yourself out there consistently even when it feels like no one is listening. Do it when you're motivated, do it when you're not. Do it when you can't see progress. Do it when it's not convenient. If you want the payoff, put in the work each day. It’ll come.

If life teaches you nothing at all, always remember to surround yourself with people who understand your passion and share the same vision as you. Surround yourself with people who are intentional about contributing to your happiness and success. Surround yourself with people who are moving in the right direction and will give you valuable advice. Do all that because the right company always reinforces your values and perspective. With the right mindset, and the right people, you can accomplish great things🦅
