Sohna Bajo is the Co-founder & Managing Director of Dabaanani Realty.

Sohna was born and raised in The Gambia, she has always had a passion for business and also happens to be a 2nd year BSc Business Administration Student at the American International University West Africa. She has an experience in banking and worked with a well known Gambian real estate company for four years. The inspiration to set up this company came from the realization that a lot of Gambians intending on purchasing properties do not fully understand how to go about it, as real estate companies do not feel obliged to disclose vital information about the properties they offer for sale, so she deems it right to represent buyers in such a brutal market. The goal of the company is to guide clients to make the right decision in their real estate journey, whether it be buying their first home, building one, selling a property or finding a rental. Dabaanani Realty is catering to their clients’ every real estate need. The vision to become the leading real estate company by offering diversified and exceptional property solutions lies on her shoulders and this resonates with her passion for the job.

Sohna’s other passion is cooking and developing recipes, she also owns a catering business called Quick Bites.

Sulayman Njie Was born in Banjul RVH in the year 1972. He attended a public school in The Gambia and later enrolled at GTTI to study hardware engineering with the city and guilds London.

He extended his study at CEFIL in Guinea before coming back to The Gambia. He also worked for Honron Computing and the office of the President.

After trying to start a business in The Gambia, which didn't go so well for him the first time, he decided to unlock his potential and progress in his career by studying overseas. After completing his postgraduate certificate and upon receiving his diploma, he started a business in Europe.

He has made a lot of achievements in Europe by playing American football in top teams and was the co-founder of the Potros American football team in Fuengirola Spain.

As the years passed by, he decided to return home to The Gambia. One of his main goals is to make a contribution towards development in The Gambia and train young Gambians on entrepreneurship.

With 1Bena he hopes to achieve this 🇬🇲

I founded armoire.de.idiatou with the support of my family and friends due to my love for modesty because i believe that Allah gives me nobility through my hijab and I wanted to share this with every other Hijabi out there.

The veil I wrap around me doesn’t represent how religious I am. It simply reminds me that I am a Muslim even when my imaan is at my lowest, so I established this brand to provide high quality veils in different varieties and colours because I want every hijabi out there to feel comfortable in their own skin when wearing the veil." 🇬🇲

YaAdam is Co-founder of the Fye Network, a social enterprise with the sole focus of telling African stories——it’s history, culture, traditions and most importantly, it’s people for children between the ages of 2-12 years old. She is an author, literacy advocate and trained Management analysts and Contracts Manager with a BA in Political Economy and MSc in Management.

She is mother to a beautiful baby girl, and wife to the incomparable Danny Constant.

The idea came from our frustration with the lack of diversity in children's media: the depiction of African characters as only wildlife animals and no princess to call our own. It boils down to controlling our own narratives and images of ourselves in the world. Storytelling is one of the most important traditions humans possess to influence, shape beliefs and behaviors. We could not exist without the values, the wisdom and the courage shared from past generations through the art of storytelling. 🇬🇲

Assiatou Sallah, the artist named Lucy La Belle, is a brilliant new artist making waves with her “For Us by Us” depictions of black women in their truest form. “The world’s first nurturers”.

Assie and her family moved to the Gambia when she was a child. It was her African surroundings that inspired her first tastes and love of art. She decided to actively pursue her passion in 2016 while living in Los Angeles. Since then she has done a series of pop-ups and shows between D.C. LA, and NYC.

Assie’s work can be best described as an abstract journey through the eyes of a woman who sees and knows herself to be “God-like”. She sees black women not only as the ultimate symbol of beauty but as instrumental in creating the narrative for self-love and acceptance in ourselves and each other. Each vibrant pigment she uses is a reminder that the beauty in melanin compliments ALL skin colors.

Assie has made her life’s work about using art as a platform to encourage black girls to be creative, harness their superpowers, and believe in their god-given beauty. 🇬🇲

My passion for cooking paved the way for me to become a Cake designer. I started my business because I fell in love with the beautiful artistry of cakes, and I want to make a difference in people’s lives.

Delectable Cakes focuses on creating delightful memories when making our Luxury Wedding Cake Designs. It is more than just selling cakes; as it is a world of beautiful experiences, memories and delicious treats. I love creating unique, elegant, modern/contemporary designs with a hint of Drama.
