INDEPENDENCE 2026: WALLY SECK PROMISES A "TERA-CONCERT" IN THIĂS FOR THE CLOSING DAY
ThiĂšs is preparing for an exceptional night. Alongside the festivities marking Senegal's independence, the railway capital will host a grand closing concert on April 5, 2026, headlined by Wally Seck. The announcement was made this Thursday at a joint press conference held on the esplanade of the town hall, in the presence of municipal authorities and several prominent figures from the local arts scene.
In an already electric atmosphere, the artist set the tone by promising a large-scale show, which he bluntly described as a "tera-concert." True to his flair for showmanship and his connection with the audience, he assured everyone that ThiĂšs "will vibrate" to the rhythm of this grand musical event. On a lighter note, he even revealed his intention to spend the night there, humorously mentioning a meal he had already ordered to extend the celebration.
Alongside the headliner, the program features a strong local flavor. Speaking on behalf of ThiÚs artists, Ma Sané praised an initiative that showcases regional talent and strengthens the event's cultural roots.
The musical lineup is decidedly diverse. Featuring pop, rap, reggae, slam poetry, and dance, the concert aims to bring together all audiences. Several Senegalese pop artists are scheduled to perform, alongside rising rap stars like Fire & Wizzy, Ben Lil, and Lilka Boy. Reggae will also be showcased with Mistik, Voices, and Buur Sine, while slam poetry will be presented by Arona Jumeaux and Hadja "La Voix du CĆur" (The Voice of the Heart). The choreographic dimension will also be featured, with performances by the Urban Art company and the X Dance Crew.
Beyond the concert, the mayor of ThiĂšs, Babacar Diop, outlined a broader cultural program, structured around activities planned before, during, and after the Independence Day parade. A strategy aimed at establishing ThiĂšs as a lasting cultural hub, capitalizing on the involvement of artists from diverse backgrounds.
With this ambitious and inclusive program, the city intends to make a lasting impression and offer a festive finale worthy of the national event. The date is now set for the night of April 5th, which promises to be one of the highlights of the 2026 cultural calendar.
