Happy 5th Birthday Arlo!

You have the kindest heart and make friends with anyone who comes near... no matter their age or if you can even speak their language.

You are a budding entrepreneur always thinking of business ideas and setting up various shops in our living room.

You have a strong talent for anything musical and have been enjoying singing lessons... you are patiently waiting for the virus to go away so you can take dance lessons - you are obsessed with krumping and anything snoop dog.

You live for sushi ๐Ÿฃ, chicken feet and jao zi. You are not a picky eater with anything and are willing to try things before deciding you donโ€™t like it.... which so far I think has only been black liquorish and you politely finished eating it and just said โ€œI donโ€™t really like thatโ€

You always want to help out almost to a fault... you get so excited about the idea of helping someone you stop listening and sometimes end up not being overly helpful at all ๐Ÿ˜…

You are so full of love and tell me a million times a day how much you love me... itโ€™s always more than something... today you loved me more than chicken feet and Halloween.... both big favs for you so I am feeling pretty loved.

You are a big adventure lover and ask constantly where we will go next and when we can fly again. You desperately want to return to Cobber Pedy and ask if we can live there ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ you have plans to live there when you grow up.

You also are very much like me and have a long list of places you want to visit... when I ask you what you want to do today itโ€™s always fly to (insert which ever place is on your mind here)

Your favourite things are weekends when daddy is home and you guys ride bikes, play video games and make hot Wheels tracks all over the house.

This year has been a tough one for you, you learned too early that bad things are not just for tv shows.

You came to understand distance and what it means to be so far from those you love and not be able to see them as often as you want.

You fretted too much about the world and how we can make it good again. I often find you deep in thought and when I ask what you are thinking something way beyond your years comes out.

1) Trend Spotting is not just about doing keyword research...unicorn products can be products sitting right under your nose for the last 50+ year... you just have to be the first to strike when its hot.

Look with your eyes wide open!

As we approach week #15 of this home learning thing I am starting to feel in the groove of things. โฃ

I think we are one of the few who have not received any curriculum to follow. At first I felt really conflicted... you see this being his first year away for the whole morning & him taking the bus meant that I had the promise of uninterrupted mornings to work on my business growth & reach big goals I had planned. โฃ

Cue corona and my uninterrupted mornings were no longer. I started to panic about what this meant for my business & my goals for the year. But something amazing soon came out of trying to find things to teach him while I also tried to work.

I started talking to him about why we work & how money works. I explained what I actually do & how I help people start their online shops. We have had conversations about productivity, focus, mindset & reward, working for others vs working for yourself... all of course at a level that 4yr olds understand. โฃ

And guess what? he started working on his businesses to... so far he has designed a candy machine for his future factory, he started designing an app game for kids and everyday our living room turns into a bookstore, a toy store or an ice cream shop which he asks if I can make online for him... we are still working on the ins and outs of coupons, discounts and how a credit card works but he will get there. He wanted to find a way to earn money so badly, so we set up his โ€œservice basedโ€ business. โฃ

We gave him 4 tasks he needs to work on each day. At the end of the day we go over how he did in each of those tasks (work evaluation) & he gets a gold โญ๏ธ for each one complete & blue โญ๏ธ for each not done well.

๐Ÿ’ฐAt the end of the week he gets a $1 for every gold star and -$1 for every blue one. We tally up his money and split it into jars- spending 40%, savings 30%, invest 20% and share 10%. I have made him a little account book to keep track. He has chosen to save up to go to Legoland ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต which we may have to help add to. โฃ
He is so proud of himself! I canโ€™t wait to see where understanding finances so young takes him. Hopefully, if he ever has to adult during a pandemic he will be better prepared than we were ๐Ÿฅด
