Today (March 18), while riding a Bee Network bus, I encountered the most outrageous and blatant racist abuse and attempted violence I have ever experienced.
It all started around 3:58 PM when my family and I were queuing to board the 135 bus from Bury Interchange to Manchester city centre. A middle-aged woman wearing a floral headscarf and a dark grey puffer jacket suddenly pushed her way into the queue from the side and falsely accused me of bumping into her. To avoid an argument, we took a step back and let her board first.
Shockingly, she pushed her luck after boarding. She suddenly subjected me to unprovoked racist abuse, shouting: "Go back to your country. China?". I found this utterly absurd, as I am not even from China!
The irony is that, judging by her appearance and accent, this woman is clearly not white and likely not even a local herself. What gives her the right to tell me to get out? I am a Hong Konger who has legally relocated to the UK, and I have every right to live here! It is completely laughable that someone who lacks basic queuing manners has the audacity to racially abuse a legal resident.
Faced with such unprovoked racism, I immediately took out my phone to record for evidence. Upon seeing this, the woman flew into a rage, continued her verbal abuse, and even lunged at me in an attempt to sn**ch my phone (as clearly seen in the unedited video, which captures her face and the attempted assault).
I have absolutely zero tolerance for this despicable behaviour. I immediately reported the incident to the bus driver and stayed in my seat to directly report it to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). The police acted swiftly and successfully intercepted the bus at the exact stop where I got off! However, due to the crowded bus at the time, I couldn't see if the woman had already slipped away in the chaos.
I am posting the unedited video here and urge everyone to share it. If anyone recognizes the woman in the footage or has any relevant information, please contact GMP immediately to provide leads. We absolutely must not stay silent when facing racism in the UK! It must be severely punished!
