After 30+ years working at major estate agencies, John was setting up his own estate agency in South Dublin. He had a name, an idea, and a placeholder logo he’d downloaded from a template site.

He didn’t have a brand. He had a starting line.

South Dublin’s estate agency market is full of firms that all look and sound the same. Templated branding. Junior agents fronting the work. John would have been invisible against them.

So we built the opposite. The strategy positioned him as a trusted advisor, not just an agent. Direct, senior-level service from someone with 30+ years of experience. Calm. Considered. Personal.

A full brand strategy. Logo and identity. Website UX, UI and copy. Sales boards. Stationery. The tagline “Guiding You Home.” All shaped by one strategic decision: in a category that sells volume, John would sell relationships.

Three months after launch, he’d done €4M+ in sales. Direct enquiries from the website from day one. The brand paid for itself nearly three times over before the year was out.

Not a story about how a logo did the work. A story about what happens when the strategy underneath the logo is right.

But honestly, the biggest takeaway wasn’t the qualification.

It was this:

Marketing is much harder when the branding isn’t clear.

You can run ads, Post content, Invest in campaigns.

But if your positioning is unclear…
If your message doesn’t connect…
If your branding blends in…

It’s much harder to turn that into real results.

That’s why I always look at it like this:

Something I keep seeing with established businesses…

The business itself is genuinely impressive. Years of experience. Real results. Loyal clients.

But the branding and website? It tells none of that story.

Here is a quote I read that stuck with me —

“You can’t see the label from inside the jar.” — Blair Enns

It basically means you can’t objectively assess your own brand when you’re too close to it. And most business owners are.

You built it. You know what you meant by it. But you don’t see what a potential customer sees when they encounter it for the very first time.

Maybe your business has grown and the brand just hasn’t kept up.
Maybe you’re starting something new and want to get it right before you launch.
Maybe you just have this nagging feeling something’s off — but you can’t quite put your finger on it.

That feeling is usually right.
