This "muppet" is still here, 5 years after buying my own house, trying to fight for improvements in housing in Ireland. The home buying and selling process in Ireland needs to be overhauled. It shouldn't be the case that you get more transparency buying lunch than you do buying your home. I'll keep fighting.

Also, first time ever in Leinster House. It is stunning. Like a 5-star hotel. Wouldn't mind working there.

Is anyone else seeing this? Personally, I haven't, and the data doesn't suggest it either but I will say I have gotten quite a few messages over the last few weeks from people who haven't gotten the offers they were expecting on the home they're selling, or any offers.

In saying that, there is an offer of €1.35m in on a 3 bed terraced house around the corner from me... so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fortunate to have a lovely park on our doorstep (although that also added a premium to the price we paid for the house), but unfortunately it has become an unofficial dog park (I love dogs), with many owners not bothering to pick up their dog litter. This owner did make the effort to pick it up, but couldn't quite manage the extra 10 metres to the bin...

Anyone with kids will know their runners, scooters, bikes etc are like a giant magnet for 💩

Seven things I'd actually say to a friend buying a home in Ireland.

No.1 is the one I'd push hardest. When I pulled my own credit report I found mistakes a bank and a credit union had made, neither of them my fault, and they'd have delayed me by weeks if I hadn't caught them early.

And No.7 , a lot of people don't realise Sale agreed is a handshake. Most of them go through, but it's binding on nobody until contracts are signed on both sides.

Finance Solutions , Jacob Law LLP and Beat The Bank are partners of mine so I'm paid to work with them. They're also who I'd use myself.
