5,000+ downloads. 🤯
When I built Menu Backup & Restore + Import/Export, I genuinely thought it would be a simple utility. A way to back up WordPress menus before making changes.
I never expected it to become something people would build into their normal workflow.
It's now being used to:
• Move menus from staging to production.
• Keep local backups before site updates.
• Reuse menu templates across projects.
• Map pages from one website to another during migrations.
• Speed up client site builds.
• Work alongside menu icons and other third party menu plugins.
• Support both classic menus and block themes.
One thing I've learned from releasing software is this. You don't always know what people actually need. Sometimes they find uses you never imagined, and that's exactly what's happened here.
The best part is that it's remained incredibly reliable. It's sitting on a 5 star rating, needs very little support, and just gets on with the job.
I'll keep maintaining it, adding support for new WordPress features and improving compatibility as WordPress evolves.
A huge thank you to everyone who has downloaded it, tested it, reported bugs, suggested improvements, or trusted it on client websites.
The plugin link is in the first comment if you'd like to give it a try.
