The traditional view on the ratio between Lifetime Value of a Customer (LTV or CLV) and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) is that if you can gain a new customer by spending about a third of the gross profit you’ll make from that customer, you’ve done well. However, this view fails to account for three important factors: not all SaaS companies are in a high-growth, start-up mode; LTVs rise and CACs fall as software businesses evolve; and organic channels routinely see higher LTV-to-CAC ratios. A more reasonable LTV:CAC ratio benchmark is therefore 6:1.

To calculate MRR, simply take the total amount of recurring revenue for a given month and divide it by the number of customers at the beginning of that month.
Generally speaking, a company's goal should be to grow its MRR while keeping churn rates low. By doing so, they can ensure sustainable long-term growth and profitability.
