Dr Showkat Hussain Tali, Assistant Professor paediatrics GMC Anantnag, has been awarded the Global Icon Award in the category of Health Care Excellence- Neonatologist of the Year 2023. The award was presented to him by legendary Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar in the award ceremony held in New Delhi. Dr Showkat is the first national board certified neonatologist from Kashmir. He is the first NNF-Kashmir President and the first Vice-president of NNF- Jammu and Kashmir. He has presented his research work throughout the globe. He is editorial board member of archives of paediatrics and neonatology and one of the authors of Text book of clinical neonatology. He is the recipient of national research talent award, creative writing award by help foundation and Rajiv Ghandi foundation, EET-CRS young faculty award, emerging professional of India award 2022, best young researcher award for 2022, first position award for research paper at 7th Arab neonatal care conference Dubai, appreciation award by WHO state branch, best book award for the year 2021 and many more.

A 12 years girl child named Rutakshi, resident of Village - Uttri, Kathua, J&K is suffering from Wilson's disease, which is an autosomal recessive disease. Her liver is fully damaged and Doctors of PGI Chandigarh have adviced for immediate liver transplant. She belongs to a poor family and her father's monthly income is approx Rs. 5000/- as he is working as attendent on contract basis at a tubewell. Total amount required for liver transplant at PGI Chandigarh is approx 15-20 Lakhs, which her father is unable to arrange.

It is therefore appealed to all that even a small contribution from you may help in saving Rutakshi's life.
