Director RDD Kashmir reviews Developmental Progress in Baramulla; Emphasises quality infrastructure, effective Service Delivery
Inspects newly completed ₹2.52 Crore DDC Office Complex at Jetty Baramulla
BARAMULLA, JUNE 12: Director Rural Development Department (RDD) Kashmir, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting at Dak Bungalow Baramulla to assess the physical and financial progress of various developmental programmes and schemes being implemented across the district.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer REW Kashmir, Shafat Hussain; Joint Director Rural Development Department, Kashmir, Nassir Ahmad Khan; Assistant Commissioner Development, Baramulla, Mudasir Hussain Chaudhary; Chief Accounts Officer, Showkat Ali Khan; Block Development Officers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Director conducted a detailed review of ongoing works under different Rural Development Department schemes and evaluated the status of fund utilisation, project ex*****on and achievement of targets. He emphasised the need for timely completion of developmental projects, efficient utilisation of resources and strict adherence to prescribed guidelines to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the people effectively.
The Director also stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards in all developmental works and called upon field functionaries to strengthen monitoring mechanisms for achieving tangible outcomes on the ground.
The officers present apprised the Director about the progress achieved under various schemes and highlighted district-specific developmental initiatives being undertaken to improve rural infrastructure and public service delivery.
The Director urged all stakeholders to work with dedication, coordination and commitment to ensure the successful implementation of developmental programmes and the achievement of intended objectives within stipulated timelines.
Later, the Director, accompanied by Joint Director RDD Kashmir, Nassir Ahmad Khan; ACD Baramulla, Mudasir Hussain Chaudhary and other concerned officers, visited Jetty Baramulla and inspected the newly completed District Development Council (DDC) Office Complex, constructed at a cost of ₹2.52 crore.
During the inspection, the Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla briefed the Director that the construction of the office complex has been completed and the facility is ready for use.
The Director reviewed the quality of construction and the amenities created under the project and emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards in the ex*****on of public infrastructure projects to ensure efficient service delivery to the people.

DC Anantnag reviews arrangements for NEET(UG) 2026, stresses adherence to SOPs, guidelines
Emphasizes necessary facilities for ease, convenience of candidates

ANANTNAG, JUNE 11:

Ahead of the upcoming NEET(UG) examination scheduled for June 21, 2026, a comprehensive meeting to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination in the district, was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat (IAS), at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal.

GM DIC, ACR(ADM), ALC, ARTO, the City Coordinator (NEET), representatives of the Police, Traffic Police, Jal Shakti, PDD, Health, F&ES, and other departments, Nodal Officers, Flying Squad Members, Superintendents, Duty Magistrates, and other officials attended the meeting.

At the outset, the ACR (District Nodal Officer, NEET) informed that a total of 9,403 candidates are going to appear for the examination, which will be held at 29 designated centers across the district. He said that key arrangements, including establishing a district control room and a strong room, as well as the deployment of nodal officers, magistrates, center superintendents, and a flying squad, have been put in place.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for meticulous planning and close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure the examination is conducted in a fair, smooth, and successful manner. He issued instructions to the concerned departments to ensure that all basic facilities, like drinking water, seamless electricity, dedicated healthcare, emergency response systems and accessibility are provided at the centers for ease and convenience of the candidates.

Dr. Bilal instructed the concerned officials to devise plans for special transport services and proper traffic management on the examination day, which be given advance publicity for the information of the candidates as well as the general public. He called for strict adherence to the SOPs and guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and directed the concerned agencies to ensure robust security, effective surveillance, Fire and Emergency Services and other critical measures at and near the examination centers. He underscored the need for holding dry runs and mock drills, adding that the district administration is committed to extending all possible support to the NTA for the successful conduct of the examination.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 10: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Wednesday attended the inaugural session of the Annual Conference of the Indian Immunology Society ‘IMMUNOCON-2026’, at Srinagar.
The prestigious event, organized by the Advanced Centre for Human Genetics SKIMS, is themed “Beneath the Grandeur of Chinar: Illuminating Mysteries from Fundamentals to Translational Frontiers in Health”.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the evolving role of immunology in biomedical innovation and healthcare.
The Lieutenant Governor hailed the human immune system as one of nature's most extraordinary living architectures, that defends the body with remarkable precision.
He emphasised on translating the scientific knowledge into public health action and putting dedicated focus on immunological research to further strengthen the ability to combat infectious diseases, improve vaccine effectiveness and enhance healthcare delivery.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that the continuous immunological innovation remains a moral obligation to prepare for future global health threats.
“I consider 'Precision Medicine' to be a major revolution in the healthcare sector today. Scientists, experts and researchers from various disciplines and institutions participating in this conference must collaborate and deliberate on this aspect and focus on inventing solutions capable of transforming medical science,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor called upon the scientists and stakeholders to foster deeper collaborations and work on three key areas: “First, there is a need to develop 'Immuno-AI Fusion' systems using Artificial Intelligence tools to help create immune profiles across different age groups in states.
Second, scientists, given the changing environment, must work on 'climate immunity' and prepare for the challenges and potential threats including pandemics.
Third, stakeholders in “Translational Medicine” must reduce the time gap between laboratory discoveries and practical patient care, ensuring that the public healthcare system gains access to new diagnostic tools, medical devices, and therapies”.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude to the global immunology community for their lifelong dedication to safeguarding human life.
He also stated that organising the annual conference of the Indian Immunology Society in Jammu Kashmir aligns with the region’s ancient legacy as a historic hub of knowledge and scientific discovery.

CM Omar Abdullah meets Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeks enhanced rail connectivity for J&K
Urges Vande Bharat halt at Anantnag, increased train services during Srinagar Airport closure in October
NEW DELHI, JUNE 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today met Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi and discussed various issues related to the augmentation of rail services in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister appreciated the quality of service, passenger comfort and punctuality of the Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, which has emerged as a major milestone in improving connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country.
Highlighting the growing public demand for greater rail accessibility, the Chief Minister urged the Union Railway Minister to consider providing a stoppage for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag to facilitate travel for residents of South Kashmir and adjoining areas.
The Chief Minister also drew the attention of the Railway Minister to the scheduled closure of Srinagar International Airport from October 1 to October 15, 2026, for essential runway maintenance and resurfacing works. He emphasized that the closure coincides with one of the peak tourist seasons in the Valley and could impact the movement of tourists, pilgrims and local residents.
In this regard, Omar Abdullah urged the Railway Ministry to augment railway services to the Kashmir Valley, particularly by increasing the frequency of Vande Bharat trains during the period of airport closure and the associated flight restrictions. He said enhanced rail connectivity would provide a reliable alternative to air travel, ensure seamless movement of passengers and help sustain tourism and economic activity during the period.
The Chief Minister noted that improved rail services during the airport closure would benefit visitors arriving during the festive season, including Durga Puja holidays, besides facilitating the travel needs of residents and pilgrims.
It is pertinent to mention that on April 30 this year, Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other dignitaries, flagged off the Vande Bharat Express service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar, establishing for the first time a direct rail link between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley.
