After Sonam Wangchuk, social activist Anna Hazare has also extended support to students protesting in Delhi. Hazare observed a two-hour silent protest (maun andolan) at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, calling for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing examination controversy.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he urged the government to listen to students with patience, build trust through dialogue, and treat their concerns as a genuine public issue rather than merely a law-and-order problem.

Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi strongly criticised the Assam Government after being suspended from the Assembly for the day.

Reacting outside the House, Gogoi said he was not allowed to fully speak about the flood situation in Upper Assam. Expressing concern over the condition of flood-affected families, he said many people had lost their homes, property and livelihoods, warning that their hardships would continue even after the floodwaters recede.

Gogoi alleged that he was prevented from raising the issue in the Assembly and said the voices of flood victims deserved to be heard. He urged the government to prioritise relief, rehabilitation and support for those affected by the floods.

The suspension has triggered political debate, with the Opposition accusing the government of not allowing a proper discussion on the flood crisis.
